I would agree with you, but the somewhere along the line the DS cushion failed to support the 3DS in its early months. Unless the WiiU doesn't have a strong start, it will be a few months till it picks up its game.

Before Nintendo dropped out and became 3rd party, I'd like to see if they can handle making a HD game. It's where this industry is going and if they cannot produce the same experience as other HD games then...

Not going to happen in the next generation and the console lifecycle is lengthening anyways so I'm not sure how realistic this question is. Also the GPU that the Wii U has is a modified version of a GPU that does ~960GFLOPS which is not a trivial upgrade from the 360/PS3 ~250GFLOPS. That's pretty important because it means that the Wii U's GPU will be closer to the next gen (rumoured to be 2-4TFLOPS) than the current gen. When the guys behind the Unreal 4 engine talked about their demo at E3 they said that they were developing their engine to work on the TFLOP era of gaming which, I would argue, the Wii U just slides into. So we're a while off this prediction I think.

If it did happen? I'd stop buying Nintendo consoles and play games on something else.........

Even so, it has been reported that the controller takes up a hell of the power offered by the WiiU.

The only M games I like are RE series, MGS, MadWorld (I'd like to give Bayonetta a Try) No More Heroes, and.... That's it
SKYRIM isn't that great IMHO, Gears is ok, Halo > CoD but still not master pieces, and GTA is to sand boxy for me

1) Developers don't have to use the second screen if they don't want
2) The same applies to PS3 - Vita stuffs and to anything second screen tech the next gen uses
3) Depends on what they're showing on the second screen... I doubt pushing a map is chewing up that much power

@skywake Then what's the point of the screen on the controller? I hate the pro controller _{not only because of its weird ABXY placement} but it removes the need to play with the screen. A Bit More On Topic: If this were to happen, I would probably be sad for a week or so and then move onto another platform. I'm not going to end my gaming career just because me favorite manufacturer has stopped creating hardware, no matter how much I like them.

Just saying that they can do that if they want because there's nothing stopping them and that there is a good chance that PS4/720 devs will face the same decision.

Also the Wii U tablet is 7" right? It's probably going to have a screen that's somewhere around 600x1024. So when you see Rayman Legends doing it's thing at 720p on the TV in the Wii U demo you need to realise that it's also rendering the same scene with different elements at something close to 720p again. Want to do a second tablet? You start to see what they were talking about when they mentioned the performance hit. The DS and 3DS face the same problem, do you use both screens OR do you put something static and boring on the second screen so you can push that first screen to it's limits?

You can play Wii Motion Plus with alcomahol...... but it's much more likely to end badly if you give drunk people something to hold while they flail uncontrollably

If you're implying an HD game produces a similar experience to any other X-definition game, then why are you even be concerned about Nintendo not being able to produce an HD game that creates that specific experience? Either you're not making sense or you must mean something more/else when you talk about "HD Games".
