How would it get boring?

Are you talking about the controllers or the gameplay in games?

The Wii U will likely have a whole range of experiences ranging from super casual to hardcore which I'm excited for. The touchscreen controller will offer up many unique experiences on it's own and even more when paired with the television. I think this system will have something for everyone and since I like both casual and hardcore games, I can't wait!

If I had my way I would still be using a proper joystick with one button! and suckers on the bottom! now that was real gaming trying to play streetfighter on a C64! hee hee

The wiiu will be nintendos last home gaming machine, which is a shame, the wiiu wont have any real 3rd party backing. With out this "the hardcore" wont fall into the same trap as they did with the wii. The casual market wont buy in great numbers as they have wii and they wont see the difference. Sure Wiiu will have 2 great mario games, a mario kart and a zelda game, but this is not enough. and a gimick controller will not be able to save the day.
I really hope to be proved wrong, nintendo has given me many many great gaming moments. The only way nintendo can push forward is to do a sega and just develop fantastic games for other gaming machines........just think mario kart HD running on xbox, with live........

I heard that nintendo is least likely to die out if anybody dies out it would be either xbox or ps

There is just so much wrong with this post, I can't even bring myself to start to correct your utterly naive speculation and ultimate ignorance.

think how good the next versions of these games could be if nintendo could focus all there attention into game devlopment and not into the next shaky shaky controller, the next mario galaxy with a proper pad i.e xbox or ps

Your proper pads might be relegated to retro consoles. Sony is already copying the Wii U controller, and you can bet Nintendo's on the right track when Sony's two steps behind them.

2: Why would you want mario kart on Xbox. Mario kart is great because it's on NINTENDO consoles.

Agree, but it would be way greater if running on the big ones. For games like Marios and Zeldas Nintendo hardware is more an obstacle than an advantage.

It wouldn't be great at all. The reason Mario is Mario is because of the open-minded and laidback relation to Nintendo's consoles, which appeal to all, and are further expanding with the Wii U. If it ever switched platforms, it would be terribly overshadowed and would lose its entire mojo, especially if it was related to the Xbox 360, in your case. We all know how the 360 is viewed by the majority of gamers, and yes, that contributes to the success of IPs on consoles.

I buy Nintendo consoles alongisde others in my gaming fix because they have Mario. They have Zelda. They have Animal Crossing. If this ever changed, I wouldn't even be able to bring myself to the idea of playing my favourite Nintendo franchises on another company's consoles.

I can't believe he even brought up that idea. Nintendo's hardware and software teams work in tandem with each other, and they build their hardware around their software. Nintendo can't survive without their hardware, and they sure as hell can't survive without their software and valuable IP's.

As for Xbox and PlayStation, I could easily see those transform into digital distribution services (like Steam). Xbox Live is already partway there, and Microsoft places heavy emphasis on Xbox Live being it's own platform that's integrated into the Xbox 360. As for Sony. well they just now merged PSN into the Sony Entertainment Network, meaning they are trying to unite their game, music, and movie services under one banner.

Sony is a hardware company, but there may come a day when "PlayStation" is nothing more than a software service that you can access through the TV, computer, smartphone, tablet, etc. As stated above, Microsoft is already trying this with Xbox Live. Simply put, PlayStation and Xbox may become Sony and Microsoft's version of iTunes.

This is pretty much the opposite of what Nintendo is doing. Iwata has stated that he sees retail and digital as complimenting each other. One one push away the other, in his views. Whether or not his predictions are correct remains to be seen, but you can be certain that Nintendo as a hardware company will try their best to stay relevant in an ever-changing digital world.

Just think about it. Nintendo is viewed completely different than Microsoft.

Agreed. When I think of video games, I think of Nintendo (and vice versa). I don't think of Microsoft and Sony. Nintendo is obviously a major player in the video game industry. Many people think video games = Nintendo, because they've become so synonymous with each other.

Video games are a small part of Microsoft's overall business. Their major products are Windows and other PC software.

And Sony, I think of TVs and cameras. PlayStation is a major brand of theirs, but not many non-gamers know what a PlayStation is.

Yeah that's true. With Nintendo I think Videogames. With Sony I think about Games and TV.

Yeah with Microsoft the most profitable divisions they have are.

@lz: From what I read, I can't see anything substantial. Of course the Wii U isn't obviously just going to have one Zelda game and a few Mario titles. At most, that's what it'll start off with. Secondly, the Wii U is generally looking to be gaining a lot of interest from many third parties, both in game development, and general curiousity of the console's tech, on the contrary of what the user stated. If anyone's been following the recent Wii U news, they'll be able to recall specific companies without examples. Thirdly, "gimmick controller"? That's obviously a derogatory opinion, and doesn't sound analytical in the least. And imaging Mario Kart HD on Xbox with Live? That sounds extremely fanboyish and hopeful, and anyway, we all know one of the big things about Wii U is the introduction of HD graphics on to a Nintendo console.

Never mind the fact that he states opinions as (rather baseless) facts. "The Wii U will be Nintendo's last home gaming console,"? Really? Pray tell what analysing you have to back this up.

I don't mean to sound rather inappropriate, but honestly. It's just absurd.

You're really starting to take the piss right now, you know that? Or do you just enjoy making fools out of others? That'd be understandable, what with your recent actions.

Neither could I blame you for that, since you'd be a fool yourself to overlook that I actually had logic to reason my comment, and am therefore not subject to any of these "comebacks".
