There are a lot of good points. I would say that the Wii U has to be around $300. The people that say $150 are way off.

There is so much going on in the rumor mills these days. Android OS, haptic technology, e-reader, cablebox, app store.... These articles are kind of a good compilation of the latest shtuff:

I change my answer. I'll buy it if there's a hot girl on the box.

For me the Wii U will have to a few reasons for me to buy one;
Transferable V.C games between Wii and Wii U, a 'cloud' type feature.
Being able to play Wii games on the screen when the TV is off! and this includes playing the VC ones
Decent amount of good games.

mmm that might lead to an interesting idea, play a wii game on screen while playing a WiiU game on the tablet and eventually being able to switch between them.

Today I was surprised by an study about gamers movements in the last years. During the first years of the Wii the community was greatly increased by new female gamers and it seems most of them are non gamers again, with a proportion back to 1 out of 5. Most of these that stay as gamers prefer RPGs, adventure and FPS.

That's because only the hardcore Nintendo fans still care about Wii. Unfortunately it is likely that instead of getting more new gamers, the Wii did nothing more than become cool for a while until people with ADD found something else shiny.

I want a true RPG that respects itself, and cuts all the fat and builds on what RPGs are known for: epic stories, awesome soundtracks, and a great setting. Xenoblade Chronicles did all of those except the epic story. I loved combat and exploring the world around me. The music also captivated me into the game. But the story was kind of underwhelming, to say the least. Yay, another story about revenge, blah blah blah. Give me a great story, like a path of self-atonement for the main character, or at least have a plot that is just as engrossing as Final Fantasy IV / VI.

So the company who makes the first awesome RPG for the Wii U get my money first when it comes to RPGs, be it Nintendo or BioWare or whoever.

Games I'm getting: The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD

Favorite Game: Super Metroid (SNES) / Mother 2 (SNES) / RuneScape (PC)
Playing: Cave Story (eShop)

May I suggest a Time machine? Because that's what you'll need if you think Final Fantasy IV and VI are still engrossing.

Hey, I have no rose-tinted glasses; I first played them on the Virtual Console when they came out and I still found it to be a great narrative. Plus, I also forgot Chrono Trigger, which I also played last year.

Point still stands. They aren't gonna make games like that anymore, and for good reason, too.

God forbid he wants something to come true on the Wii U in a thread that asks you what would be the "selling point" for you. (As in everybody.) God forbid.

What can I say, I'm a robot fueled by crushed dreams. I gotta keep on living, too you know.;) But really, I'm not invalidating his post or whatever it is you seem to have a problem with. I'm just trying to have a conversation. God forbid people discuss things on a forum. <_<

The selling point for me? It's a new system from Nintendo. What other reason do I need?

I'd agree if we were in a thread with something to actually discuss. lol But we're not. If he wants an engrossing story for an RPG with a turn based battle system from Square Enix on the Wii U so be it.

Who said anything about turn-based combat and Square Enix? :P First off, Square Enix haven't really put out an outstanding (not just good) game since Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Plus, Final Fantasy XIII-2 was not stellar. Just good. And good does not cut it for Final Fantasy, a franchise known for massive amounts of quality. So the only companies that could deliver (maybe) is Nintendo, BioWare, and Mistwalker. Secondly, though I wouldn't mind another turn-based system again (Paper Mario), I want to see something new. And when I say new, I mean an actually good real-time battle system that can take its cues from the Tales series, Xenoblade Chronicles, and The Last Story. I don't want to see ridiculously easy battles with a overly simplified battle system (Final Fantasy XIII / XIII-2); I want to see actual strategy put in battles, like in the above examples I put up there.

Three, who said that RPGs had to just be games like Final Fantasy / Dragon Quest? An RPG can easily be a top-down shooter, or an FPS.

I hate people that follow fads. Even when the DS 'Lite' hit the scene, i knew people who didn't even like video games that were interested in getting one. Why? Because the design was in tune with Apple's white glossy I-Pod and because it was an enormous hit. Everybody seemed to want one, but just like the wii the casual lost interest. Some failed to realise that there were more games besides Wii sports. :p
