Since A Link to the Past finally got a sequel, what other Zelda game should get a sequel? Ocarina of Time already got a sequel and Wind Waker got two sequels. So, which other Zelda game should get a sequel?
I post this in the Wii U section because I figure if they do another sequel to a past Zelda game, they'll probably do it on home consoles this time instead of handhelds.
I'm going to guess most people will say Twilight Princess.
How bout Zelda II? To my knowledge they never had a game take place after the events of Zelda II The Adventure of Link. Of course they dont need to have the same gameplay.

I say Majora's Mask (return of the mask powers concept), the original Legend of Zelda (no handholding, very little story, no cutscenes, large world to explore from the beginning, nonlinearity, etc), and Zelda II (same gameplay, just because).

I was thinking this too (especially since I love Zelda II), but since it was a sequel itself to the original, it's probably not "necessary".
Maybe Minish Cap? I imagine that they could do some interesting things, like maybe if when you shrunk down to Minish-size, the gameplay would be on the GamePad.
...the original Legend of Zelda (no handholding, very little story, no cutscenes, large world to explore from the beginning, nonlinearity, etc)...
Zelda games are so much better than this now, though. I hated all of those thing when I played it. I was proud I made it through the first dungeon without a guide... and then I just got utterly lost... I've never had that issue in any other Zelda game. I like the stories much better now, I like the semi-linear nature. I'm able to focus on solving the dungeons (which is fun), rather than wandering aimlessly trying to find it... I think those who enjoyed it when it was new liked it because they didn't have anything better to compare it to. It was the first of its kind, after all.
Zelda 2 is my favorite Zelda game, maybe even my favorite game ever, so I would be happy to get a sequel to Zelda 2 with the same gameplay. Although, in that case, I think 3DS might be a better fit. Zelda 2 takes place at the end of the Zelda timeline where Ganon is already dead, so I wonder who the villain could be? Unless they sort of carry on the Zelda 2 story where the monsters are still trying to revive Ganon. Maybe this time, they could actually succeed at the end resulting in a surprise boss battle with Ganon.
I also like the Majora's Mask idea. Perhaps they could even have more transformation masks. That would make for a rather interesting Zelda, where Link is constantly changing between several different characters. So, yeah. Give us a 3DS remake of Majora's Mask and then a sequel to it on the Wii U.
Technically, Ocarina of Time has several sequels. Its ending is the major branching point in Zelda lore. But yeah, Majora's Mask is about as direct as a sequel as there is for OoT.
A couple of things that haven't really been touched on with console games are Vaati and the three goddesses. Given that, I would be pretty excited for a Zelda game on Wii U set in maybe the Shadow Era (following Four Sword Adventures) or the Era of Decline (following Zelda II), has Vaati as the final boss, and has a plot that heavily features Din, Nayru, and Farore in supporting roles.
Of course, I do enjoy the happy optimism of the Wind Waker continuity and wouldn't object to another game set in that timeline either.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
They should just make an SNES styled "sequel to this NES game but with better controls/less frustration" type of sequel for Zelda 2. Make it an eShop game, it'll be great (maybe).
Zelda games aren't SO drastically different as for me to feel sad they don't make sequels to them. So I'd only want sequels for the most part for story reasons and my 2 big ones are I want an actual Wind Waker sequel (PH counts as much as Majora's Mask does, if not much less) because I want to see more focus on the awesome pirates and I want a Skyward Sword sequel focused on Groose. Both would be wonderful and make me happy.
An indirect sequel to Majora's Mask or prequel to Majora's Mask. Something with Majora's Mask, the fact that Nintendo has put an assist trophy in Smash, cameo in Link Between Worlds and Animal Crossing New Leaf makes me want that as a plot device in Zelda again soooo bad.

Don't get me wrong, the original Legend of Zelda is one of my least favorite Zelda games. It might actually be my least favorite, but after playing Neutopia, I think there's some hope for that style of gameplay. If they took out the walls with no markings that you have to bomb in order to progress, it would be soooo much better!
