Nintendo doesn't need to be chasing remakes of yesterday's hits that everybody played on the Playstation (Resident Evil, MGS)-- they need to be looking for the new indy Western teams with new IPs that they can acquire.
With that said... Shadowman Turok Bioshock Vice City (toon shaded)
Star wars rogue squadron!!
Factor 5 the lead developers of the Rogue Squadron series actually developed and finished a Rogue Squadron trilogy for the wii back in 2008 but unfortunately filed for bankruptcy that same year. Lucas arts now Disney absorbed that game and rights after they filed. So the game already exists.
If the wii u misses out on star wars battlefront which seems to be the case getting a star wars rogue squadron trilogy HD remake would definitely be a plus. With all the generated hype and excitement with the new star wars movie coming out Nintendo needs to desperately capitalized on that financially. Even if it's only a small part of the pie.
Final Fantasy XIV. The Gamepad makes so much sense for an MMO. Skill icons could go on the screen. Your party info could go on the screen for easy healing/buffing. Most of the UI would work well with the touch interface, actually. And then physical buttons for regular actions and your most used skills.
Or Square Enix could just localize Dragon Quest X but lol.
Would Air Fortress (HAL Laboratory) count as non-Nintendo? I didn't have Metroid back in the day, but I did have Air Fortress and an HD remake would be great. Or rather a 3D Classic might be perfect for that game, I'm pretty sure there were a few elements that would benefit from 3D.
