Topic: What is the Reasoning for lack of Flash on Wii U?

I understand why Apple didn't have it. Steven Jobs got into a fight with the Adobe people, and Steve Jobs holds serious grudges. But why didn't Nintendo's Wii U have it?
Too hard to implement?
Pirating issues?
Not enough time?

I'm really curious.

Because HTML 5 is so much better.

I understand that Flash is becoming obsolete soon, so it's not much of a loss

Because Flash is a resource hogging, bug-ridden attack vector that would bring nothing to the platform. And, as others have pointed out, HMTL5 makes it basically obsolete.

Everything I have seen using HTML5 is nowhere near as good as say VVVVVV / Binding of Issac / Anodyne there again stuff is getting added to HTML5 all the time (But are Nintendo keeping up to date with it ?) and I cannot tell the difference with a HTML5 / Javascript Windows 8 app. Still of the mindset that HTML should be for presentation and that is it. XHTML was an improvement but they didn't take on the 2.0 version of it which was a bigger improvement.

Flash is updating like every two weeks and nobody bothers to keep up with it.

well, at least to me Flash keeps crashing every day and it's not even because I use it at all, it's because of those annoying ads that use it(it has even a weird preeference for crashing on NL)

Flash is an officially licensed Adobe product, and both licensing costs as well as implementation are very expensive and tedious.

Also, since it's external content with enormous control over the device using it, it could also prove to be a huge security problem (if Flash applications can shoot viruses into your computer, you can bet it has the potential to do similar stuff to a WiiU). And, as others have pointed out, it's an obsolete system which suffers from great stability issues and the need of constant updates.

Because Flash is a dated format and I'm glad Steve Jobs stood against Flash in HTML5's early days. Good use of foresight.

EDIT: Also because HTML5 is an open standard unlike Flash. And here's Steve Jobs's thoughts when he wrote this back in 2010. http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/

If HTML5 is so great, why can't a I play a single game with decent performance on the Wii U via the web browser?

It's not optimized for the Wii U.

Because that's not the point of the WiiU browser. If you want full HTML5 support, none of the browsers on any console will be viable. They primarily exist to allow quick access to information and social features, not interactive, dynamic content.
If you wanna play HTML5 games, use Chrome or Firefox on a PC.
