Topic: What is Retro Studios REALLY up to?

Personally, I have zero disappointment with DKC:TF, and they're absolutely welcome to turn their DKC series revival into a trilogy

Hoping for Metroid Dread, still...

It is funny that most people are thinking of Metroid, rather than the idea that they're also working on an new IP, potentially Mr Miyamoto's... haha

Well ok, maybe. It has definitely been said that Retro's output has been fairly low over the last 5 years or so. We now know that their engine can push out pretty decent visuals on the Wii U at very respectable framerates. So the assumption is that all of this work will go into something like Metriod Prime anyways.

The fact that we now know that only a small team was working on DKC:TF only further confirms this.

I'm sure its not Metroid, but I'm still hoping it'll show up at some point. Who knows, maybe they're reviving Star Fox.

Didn't they confirm they were already working on another project?

My bet, if it's not Metroid, it's Miyamoto's new IP and it's an FPS. I don't really care what game Retro comes out with next. They've proven time after time that they release quality games. They could probably release an Ice Climbers Wii U and it would be worth playing.

They asked if Retro could tell us anything they're working on, and they couldn't say anything at the time. Dun dun DUN. lol

I don't really care what they do to be honest. Everything they make turns out amazing. So whatever it is, I'm going to enjoy it I'm sure.

I would like a new Metroid game though. But not Metroid Prime, that brilliant trilogy should be left alone. Would be nice with the rumored Metroid Dread, or something else.

i have a question, how would you feel if Retro did the next Star Fox heck or even F-Zero?

I think a new Metroid and Miyamoto's new IP will be revealed at E3.

I just don't want to see them become the Donkey Kong studio after what they did with Metroid.

Both could be cool.

Feels like they could do more with Starforx though, since it's not "just" a racing game.

I wouldn't get too excited over that VGX appearance to be honest.

Well think about it this way. If someone asked you to give you a list of Wii U games to get right now you'd probably give them a list that was a fairly heavily dominated by platformers, particularly 2D platformers. The Wii U doesn't really need another one right now.

Metroid Hoenn confirmed then? On a side note, I find it fascinating how fans will take any vague "hints" given at an event or in an announcement and turn them into "confirmed" games, even if said vague hints were just mere coincidences

It's funny too how Nintendo knows they exist and purposely give them coincidences to play around with like Majora's Mask appearing in everything now
