I don't see this happening, but it could work. Just look what happened to Red Steel!
Red Steel 2 was pretty much an entirely different game than the original, though.
I'm pretty okay.

I liked Knack, was it great? No, but it was a solid, if not simple beat em up....it's didn't deserve to get bashed like it did / does, it's simply not that bad.

I find people judge Launch titles harsher than titles released later in a console's lifecycle. I think ZombiU is a great game, not the most polished game but still great. Some people disagree.
Each new console generation brings new styles of games, in my opinion

Exactly
More to the point, thougg, the original CoD didn't sell well at all. Maybe half a million, I think. They made a sequel and it did better. A third one made a huge improvement, and now they're selling over 10 million per port, not counting the Wii U, of course.

I thinks that was enough to have sold well back then. It also was met with a lot of critical acclaim, which even included GoTY awards.

Back in 6th gen? You realize that wasn't THAT long ago, right? And I mean, yeah. If the budget was anything like most experimental, new IPs were, at the time, that's a pretty successful game. My point was that the first game wasn't scrapped for not being a multi-million seller, and then the sequel--which is still considered the best CoD by most of the competitive fan base--sold about three or four times as well. By the fourth one, it was a contender for best seller. It helps that it was met with great response as being one of the first truly streamlined shooters out there, but the fact that the company was persistent with it was definitely a big help.
