Topic: What genre of gaming does the Wii U needs badly? JRPGS!

I really like my Wii U but I really wish we was getting more JRPGs. The only JRPGS I know we are getting is Monolith's X and Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem. That's only two confirmed JRPGs, man! I can't even include that Dragon Quest Wii U game because its exclusive to Japan!
WE NEED MORE JRPGS!!!
I want Nintendo to team up with some JRPG developers and coax them to make games for the Wii U. I would love to see a bunch of JRPG games for Wii U announced at E3 or something. I'm a huge JRPG guy and yes, I know that the Sony consoles are usually the haven for JRPGs... heck I'm gonna get a PS4 later when JRPG support comes for that console.
I just really wish the Wii U was getting more JRPGs in the future.
If you're a JRPG fan like me then hopefully you can agree with me!

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

How would Nintendo Coax them into making content when the PlayStation brand is knlwn as the big JRPG brand.

But I agree, get Mistwalker and camleot working on some console games.

JRPG or RPG are not exactly my best taste...but YES the system needs them because they sells very well.

It has X so in my mind it's already getting more than the other guys

Nah, it needs more first person shooters.

100% agree. I don't like Final Fantasy anymore, I haven't liked Tales since Tales of the Abyss, I never really liked Kingdom Hearts, most of Atlus's best stuff is moving to 3DS, and everything Nippon Ichi releases just reminds me how I'd rather be playing Fire Emblem. The only thing on PS4 that might interest me in the JRPG genre would be Persona 6...and I love that series...but it's starting to scare me how much they're milking it, especially P4...reminds me a little too much of FFXIII. The cover of P6 will be Yu Narukami in is underwear.

"X" is the only JRPG that has me interested on consoles so far (though I'll give SMT X FE a fair chance when we actually get more info for it T_T)

Follow ups to Last Story and Pandora's Tower (or even Baten Kaitos) would be most welcome though.

I think we will hear more on X at E3. Personally I really want to know what the deal with is Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem. I wonder how they'll handle the combat in that game, if it'll be first person dungeon crawler or strategy-tile based RPG. Personally I think a 2D action RPG side scrolling like Dragon's Crown could be cool, just feature the characters of both games with really nice anime style sprites. The SMT characters combat could be based on taking control of the demons after they're defeated, Fire Emblem just the typical RPG classes.

I'd love more RPG's, or JRPG's but I think Nintendo needs to appeal their IP's to the mass of gamers to sell the console. An online multiplayer Metroid game could be a good start.

@MuchoMochi I think SMT X FE will have SMT's amazing gameplay with Fire Emblem's awesome character detail.

I think the new Zelda while not a full RPG will take a lot from Skyrim and Xenoblade.

I hope it's not as simple as that, I would think with all the time spent on the game it would be a bit more complex of a combination of games. I definitely don't want it to be a straight strategy RPG.

I want an RTS. ever since I saw a touch screen I have wanted to control thousands (ok maybe hundreds) of characters in battle. Something like that old RUSE commercial only controls that would actually work lol

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I know I'll probably get some hate for this, but I REALLY hope that SMT x FE doesn't have first person in it, at all. I could never fully enjoy first person RPG's, which yeah, I know it's a shame. I just don't like them. I like being able to see my characters at all times.. it just feels strange without that. I know I've probably missed some great games. I never played SMT4 or the Etrian Odyssey games on the 3DS despite them both being very tempting, the first person battles is just a huge turn off. I blame it on Final Fantasy.

Fire Emblem on the other hand.. is just awesome. I've been in love with strategy games since Shining Force and FE does everything right. It's not quite Final Fantasy Tactics, but it's close. As far as RPG's on Wii U goes.. I would love to see it get some. Be it Mario RPG.. or maybe even something from Sega. Maybe, just maybe.. we could get a Shining Force out of Sega somehow. I'm sure that's asking for way too much though.

Speaking of RTS, I want another Lost Magic from Ubisoft. A proper sequel to the DS game. The Wii U is beyond perfect for it.. that games was real challenging and just had a lot going for it. I don't care what the haters say.

The Wii U, like all consoles, needs every genre of gaming.

Personally, I want to see more games like Assassin's Creed and Wind Waker HD. An open world adventure game where you can truly get lost in the people and surroundings.

Out of other genres I would like to see...
A Metroid FPS (still Metroid, but tweak the controls for dual-stick/wiimote shooting like Metroid Prime 3).
A collect-a-thon adventure game (not likely in 2014, but I can dream).
and X (cough cough X cough).

I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
I used to own a GBC, PS2, and DS Lite

I'm on YouTube.

I promise to not derail threads. Request from theblackdragon

I pro...

I really want Nintendo to move away from the Wii controls as much as possible, I do appreciate what the wii mote did to the typical FPS but the Wii brand is part of the reason the Wii U is such a mess right now. As much as I know that a FPS would sell better and bring in more "hardcore" gamers, I really wish they could do another 2D Metroid akin to the Super Nintendo title. Maybe they could put that on the 3DS.

I also think a full powered Pokémon game for Wii U that took advantage of the Wii U's power could be a huge system seller....
Pokemon HD?
