I want Zelda to be darker. Give it a feel like Elder Scroll. It doesn't have to be rated M but I think Zelda needs to"grow up" a little bit. An open world would be excellent. Also, I know the green get up is very iconic for Link but I think it would be nice if he was able to fine/buy/alter new armor or clothing. Also, a story that develops around a players "in-game" choices. For example, if I decide to do this side quest and I either bet or fail the side quest it will later on effect me in certain ways, be it positive or negative. If I bet the side quest it could add a positive influence on the main story line perhaps or if I lose it would mean that a different side quest would present its self later on with ties to that side quest that I lost to. I think that would be fun in Zelda.

And I was thinking that my suggestions were a little "out there."

This sounds like Zelda In Name Only Like, you want a sandbox action RPG whose main character happens to be Link. Why not just role a Bosmer in Skyrim and name him Link?

I don't think you get where he's getting at. All he's suggesting is a darker story (like Majora's Mask), more customization options for Link since you're supposed to be him in the game, and better sidequests. This isn't much to ask for, Zelda is kind of behind when it comes to overworld features.

Yes, thank you for understanding what I meant. With Zelda being one of the longest running RPGs, I think its about time to update it a bit. I'm not saying it needs to follow the trend but to maybe incorporate some of it. Zelda has a fantastic foundation to allow a great mix of old school awesome RPG style with a mix of modern trends that are pulling RPGs forward. If they (Nintendo) could manage to do something like this, I would put money on it that it would be a huge hit. Zelda will be a hit no matter what anyways, all Nintendo needs to do is draw a stick figure Zelda game and it will still sell lol. But if Nintendo did this, bet your last dollar that PS and Xbone fanboys will cry over the fact its not on their system and wine that it should be.

And although I have little to back this last point up, basically just a hope and a prayer...I would love to see a High definition look to Zelda comparable to the E3 demo. I know this is a fools errand, especially when you look at the Zelda e3 2001 demo, and the eventual release of WindWaker. I want Nintendo to champion their console, it may not be the biggest fish in the pond...but someone...somewhere... [I'm looking at you Retro]...needs to show what this console can do. Not just unique gameplay, but engrossing visuals as well.

Even ignoring the HD remake, Wind Waker's visuals are far more engrossing than most HD games could hope for. Mainly because it uses lots of actual primary colors. I'm not against the E3 2011 look at all, but you have a complete misunderstanding of what makes visuals look impressive.

This article is dated this year in June, but they had said it quite some time, before that.

EDIT: He said it won't be realistic, but they aren't trying to make it a cartoon, either. Then he denies a hybrid of that, so I don't know.
I think it will have cartoon like graphics, but with darker colors and obviously Zelda like. So, OoT style except way more advanced.

They definitely said it before the date in the article. I think it slipped by, then someone went back for that quote. They've been working on it for 2-3 years already. They have the graphic style already complete for the most part, for sure.

I'm not disagreeing with you, WindWaker HD looks absolutely stunning...even the original GCN version still stands the test of time against other more "realistic" games of that generations and even those after. But there are different kinds of beautiful, both equally impressive and engrossing. It all comes down to taste. Alongside WindWaker on the Gamecube, there was Metroid Prime, that really showed how different things could look. Both games were impressive and played to different aesthetics

I think they said it would be a more realistic Skyward Sword looking game. Meh... They won't make another WindWaker style game, and Twilight Princess was more realistic, but still basically pretty simple considering it was GCN graphics.

Or look at Smash Bros. Melee went for a realistic type of pseudo graphic style, then Brawl went for a kind of more realistic style. Now it's back at a cartoon style that only looks more detailed because it's in HD and the Wii U can do more. Smash Bros. 4 looks like Melee to me. The textures just aren't as detailed as Brawls, but it still looks better, IMO.

I don't think I would like if Retro was making a console Zelda game. I feel like they haven't really shown what they can do yet, I'm curious to find out, but I believe it's not the best choice for them to make it.
