Given that Zelda A Link to the Past got a sequel after 21-22 years and Kirby Canvas Curse getting a sequel after 10 years, do you think there's a good chance that Super Mario World and Super Mario Bros. 2 (Doki Doki Panic) will at some point be given a sequel to too in the future?
I'm honestly confused that Nintendo hasn't done a Super Mario Bros. 2 sequel. They're missing out on a great chance to introduce the original DokiDkoi Panic! crew to the rest of the world, and the whole grab-mechanic offers loads of potential for smart level designs. But Since Nintendo barely even mentions it, it doesn't seem likely that they'll make a sequel anytime soon.
As for Super Mario World, I don't see it happening, either. The game is still too popular, yet there's barely any room for improvement. The original games made the best out of its mechanics, and a new game without new ideas feels somewhat pointless.
But it's literally called Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Its story taking place in the past is irrelevant.
also in Japan Mario World is called Super Mario Bros. 4
Edit: Also, I would say in many respects Yoshi's Island is the spiritual successor to Super Mario USA/ 2. Unconventional Mario mechanics abound. Heck, Shyguys are the main baddies!
Formally called brewsky before becoming the lovable, adorable Yoshi.
Now playing:
Final Fantasy XIV (PC) | The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Switch) | Celeste (Switch)
