Don't be like SEGA. That's all I can say for now.

Pain is weakness, leaving the body.

But

Wii Fit U a day keeps you healthy and strong for days.

I'm pretty sure Nintendo has learned its lesson from the Wii U. And the Playstation 5 will mostly likely be a streaming console.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I do plan on getting a PS4 someday :D

I think it will be more powerful than a PS4 but less powerful than a PS6. Sony and MS won't even have hardware next gen, they'll just have a streaming/rental service to play super enhanced versions of Die Hard Trilogy and Destruction Derby with almost no lag.

I think it will launch with a Mario Kart game, a Zelda game and a Pokemon game that ties to the handheld controller which doubles up as a GBA2.

I think It might even launch with Smash Bros 5 depending on the Wii Us Life Cycle

i don't think it will be like this, but I want it to:

  • TV- and Handheld-consoles are connected.
  • When you buy games either retail or direct from the eShop (let's say the TV-console), it binds the game to your account so you can re-download it on TV-console and the handheld. The TV-console will have better graphics while the handheld will have "worse" but will of course be portable.
  • Save data is linked between the consoles.
  • Buying the game on the TV-console and then downloading it on the handheld will make it download the handheld version.
  • Consoles after this will only update the hardware and add accessories, so you'll be able to play your bought games on all the following consoles. Just like PC and Smartphones.

While I do like saving myself a few hundred bucks, this stifles gameplay innovation. I understand this would never have happened, but imagine if they took this approach with the Atari 2600 or Intelivision. Even if graphics improved and new upgrades were made, we'd be stuck with a controller with a joystick and one button. Maybe for people back then, they thought that's all they needed, but it wasn't until Nintendo created new hardware where people discovered that a gamepad was a brilliant idea. And then came the analog stick. And then the touchscreen.

New hardware pushes game developers to create new ideas. Some ideas are gimmicks, but some are really innovative. If we just subscribe to merely updating, we stifle what could be.

@Haiassai That's why I said to only update the hardware and add accessories, and by that I mean like the GamePad or Wii Fit Board. Games could have "Requires X accessory to play." thing with them. This would also mean no useless GamePad gimmick function on certain Wii U games.

this would make dedicated gaming machines pointless as the hardware would be all over the place with very little standards increasing the number of bad games and forcing people to upgrade to a stronger device if they want good games or even worse buying games for their system to only later discover it won't run withoug upgrading, what'll make the consumers rage.
it works on PCs and Smartphones because many different companies make the hardware so nobody really expects any gaming standards for those(I'm talking about the "casual" market of people who buy their PCs, not about the people who understand how to make a great machine for cheaper by buying the parts separatedly)

@GuSolarFlare I see that I didn't mention it, but I mean that Nintendo only updates the hardware every 5 or 6 years, like they do nowadays. Except this time, all the games will be backwards compatible, and Nintendo would only have to update the Operative System if they wanted some changes, and it would apply on all the hardware.

@Kewlan so you mean keep the same architecture so the software compatibility won't be a problem? yeah tha could work, but only if Quantum computers flop, because quantuum computers will kill all the digital technology we know nowadays

does it mean we'll have to have at least 1/10000 of @ogo79's vast fortune if we want just to get the controller without the console?

@8BitSamurai Oh yeah I forgot! I got all my ideas from Iwata, because he's my grandpa. He told me everything and would punish me if I leaked it, but it's worth it. ;)

well, you know software depends on the hardware's architecture, I'm still no expert but basically using an architecture different from the previous system make it harder to make an older software run on the new system.
it's also the thing Scar keeps talking about all the time when comparing the big 3 consoles, WiiU has a different architecture from the other 2 so porting games from PSBox41 to it is harder.

I hear the higher ups at Nintendo might be working out on a "rare" loan program.

I never said new architecture. I'm saying stronger hardware, with eventual OS updates, and possibly different accessories.
For example: Instead of a GTX 670, you have a GTX 760.

People here lost faith on Wii U, so they had to create a thread on what should Nintendo's next console be. I'm very happy with Wii U, and I don't care if it has lower graphics or less features than PS4 or Xbox One. The titles for Wii U is way more appealing than its competitors. I have PS4 and Wii U, and the Wii U is used more than PS4.

My point is that no matter how rich the game console has in features, fun games will always be console's most important feature.

so, the same as now, but keeping up with Microsoft and Sony in terms of power?
because I really hope you don't mean making people buy expansion packs

oh having different models... if I'm not missing the point that goes back to my first answer, it'll cause confusion to many people since it'll be all over the place with too many models and no standards.

@GuSolarFlare I said they should release new consoles as often as they do it now... every 5 or 6 years. It won't be any more confusing than it already is. Except this time it's only the hardware that's new.

DO I NEED TO REPEAT MYSELF YET ANOTHER TIME?
