Topic: What do you think Nintendo will do if the Wii U continues to produce lackluster sales?

Or think of it as 2013 for the 3DS, sure you had Zelda and Animal Crossing, but it was the quality and quantity of Nintendo software as a whole that made that year.

Yoshi's Wooly World - probably a stretch to say it is going to be a system seller

This could be a huge system seller if marketing and targeting the right audience. I've shown the E3 footage of Yoshi's Wooly World to some non-gaming parents (people who don't know the difference between any console brands) and the usual reaction was "I need this! What machine do I need to play it?". For them, that creative world (and the claymation style in the new Kirby game) are things they can relate to.

I know my wife and her friends all want to play this game, and from what I played at E3 it is a really awesome game. I just didn't want my experience with showing it affect what I thought the masses wanted. Glad to hear other people excited about it lol.

Oh heck yeah I am on the excited for Wooly World bandwagon! However, it's # 4 on the supposed upcoming 2015 games behind XBX, Zelda, and Star Fox.

To blessed to be stressed.

The Wii U is doing fine. It doesn't have negative revenues afaik. Despite the constant whining about the lack of games for Wii U, there are more games than most people have time to play. 3rd party support is no real bother, I'm here for the Nintendo games anyway. The game lineup just keeps getting more impressive. It's not another Wii, it's another Gamecube. Which is fine. The only thing Nintendo should, can, and will do, is to continue doing what they know best - making awesome games.

the difference is that the Wii u has been out longer and the Xbox one has a mainstream appeal unlike the wii u. The Xbox one will outsell the Wii U, especially in Europe and America but at as long as Nintendo continue to support the system I don't really mind. I personally think that Nintendo will just continue to support the system for another 3 to 4 years, they would be stupid to replace it.

XB1 is tanking everywhere except America. It's being outsold by the Wii U and even the PS3 in Europe.

It's getting a lot of heavy hitters in 2015, so that may change, but the XB1 coming out on top of the Wii U isn't a foregone conclusion yet.

Funny how no one seems to be talking about the Xbox One's "lackluster" sales.. It has been trailing the Wii U in recent times, but no, the Wii U is a FLOP, dead and doomed!

See the problem is that people have a fixed narrative that they've been running on for almost a decade now. If you're convinced you're right about something then when evidence comes out to show otherwise you'll discount it. Well right now the PS4 is taking all of the "core-gamer" market and Steam, and by extension PC gaming, gained 10mill users over the last year pushing them from 65mill to 75mill. Everyone talks about the "casual squeeze" Nintendo is facing in the mobile space, they fail to notice that the XBOne is being squeezed even harder.

And we all talk about how large the "core-gamer" market is. Last gen they took 160mill units and the "casual" party game Wii market took 100mill with a bit of overlap. Lets say for arguments sake that the "casual" market is under attack from tablets and halves for Nintendo and that PS4 and XBOne are fighting for the same 160mill. If that's the case and PS4 keeps outselling XBOne 2:1? Wii U sells 50mill, PS4 sells 100mill, XBOne sells 50mill. The key point being that Nintendo offers a style of game in bucketloads that nobody else is trying to sell. Why do the XBOne and PS4 support four controllers? They don't really need to, that's not what you buy them for. For the Wii U? That's the difference. That's why I think it's unlikely that they'll end up "dead last".

......... if I was betting on a "loser" I'd put my money on XBOne at this point

I remember showing my friend who isn't a gamer at all some trailers of the E3 games I was excited about and he was by far impressed with Wooly World. He couldn't get over how charmingly cute it was. This may end up moving quite a few systems (if marketed correctly).

I still got my imaginary money on Splatoon being the surprise heavy hitter next year. Even if Nintendo drops the ball on the marketing, it seems like the type of game that's going to be able to sell itself (if E3 was any indication).

Sadly 101 and Zombi are neither by a long shot compelling let alone a system seller. It's bait to feed a base that already is or was there from the get-go.
