If I trusted any developer with the Star Fox series, it would be Retro Studios. The games haven't really been selling all that well since Star Fox 64 though.
Star Fox 64 is a ten dollar game and the next one should be 2D?
Are you trolling?
Who said the next Star Fox game should be 2D? Did someone post a comment and then delete it?
Actually, it was in the opener. And should I link to my sources? I can't give you anything for the 2D thing, as that's just my personal opinion, but I can prove the critical and commercial failure of the series. Also, it is ten dollars already technically, on the Wii Virtual console.
Thanks for clearing that up. I know Miyamoto and a few others have said that the series hasn't been selling as well as they'd like, but I don't remember hearing that it was a commercial failure as whole. As for being a critical failure, I don't recall many publications giving any of the games a score lower than 7. Most sites, including NintendoLife, consider a 7 to be a pretty good score. Can you provide a link to your sources? I'm really curious.
Well, yes, there should be more content then 64, as people who don't take the time to explore will complain about the length of the game being 2 hours (see Steel Diver).
I'd like a quality developer to make an actually new game. Retro would be best, but Q-Games (X-Scape, not SF643D) and Shin'en (Nano Assault) could most definitely do quality jobs here.
A rail shooter would be the best option, sticking to the roots of the series. It should be made as nonlinear as possible with those restrictions, which obviously isn't saying much.
Online multiplayer. Seriously, the hell were they thinking with 3D? A few months is not worth online gameplay?
Third-person shooters work amazingly well with the Wiimote (not so much FPS games), so that should be a priority.
This is a signature.
Link goes here now.
Screw you.
Also, I don't hear anyone denying that the franchise is only worth $10 per game at the quality of 64. The way it's been, is a Star Fox game worth $60?
I put about as much time into this game you can beat in an hour as I did with Skyrim. It's kinda the gaming entertainment equivalent of a long term investment. Comparable to the 50 times you inevitably played at least one of the early 2d Marios or Sonics or Megaman etc.
Granted, your mileage may vary. I find it difficult nowadays to go back to a game I've beaten that is particularly long (outside of my top 5 games and their sequels). That's why I'll probably play Sonic Colors over and over for years and I could legitimately see myself not playing Skyward Sword and Xenoblade (despite the latter being my favorite game of the past 4 years) for 5-10 years.
I feel the same way you do. I actually prefer shorter games and play through them many, many times. Long games, on the other hand, are a completely different story. I might play through a 20-40 hour game once every 3-5 years but they tend to sit around a lot more.

All you have to do is look it up on metacritic. http://www.metacritic.com/search/all/star+fox/results
Star Fox 64 got an 88, really high up there one of the top rated games of all time. Then there's Adventures, which came in at an 82 but burned a lot of fans for not actually being a Star Fox game, but Dinosaur Planet reskinned as a Star Fox game. Assault came afterwards with a 67. Abysmal by any account. Command brought it back, but only up to a 76. In my experience, 7 is not a good score. 7 is what games get for mediocre these days.
As for commercial failure you can look that one up on VGchartz http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=star+fox
You can see here that Japan has never had over a million units sold. Globally the series starts out pretty good with 4.03 million for 64. It trails off a bit for Adventures at 1.87 million, Assault got 1.08 million. But then Command only got 0.51 million, which is really low for a DS game, followed by 0.66 million for Star Fox 64 3D. This is contrasted by the sales of New Super Mario bros Wii, which sold 25.88 million, and New Super Mario Bros DS, which sold 28.56 million. Comparing this to other shooting games we have Halo 3, which sold 11.6 million. Even in it's time, Goldeneye vastly outsold it with 8.09 million. Even Link's Crossbow training beats it with 4.96 million in sales.

Which is exactly the design philosophy of Left 4 Dead. I've played through that about 50 times, mainly because it's short, never quite plays out the same way, and has multiple campaigns. Star Fox having multiple campaigns would be pretty awesome I've gotta say.
This doesn't quite explain why I've found myself beating Zelda: Ocarina of Time through about 20 times, Majora's Mask about the same, Legend of Dragoon about 10 times, Metroid Prime about 15 times, and I've played through Skyrim about 5 times already. Admittedly, longer games do tend to gather dust more than they get played, but it's understandable that I would burn out on a longer game for a longer amount of time.
out of all the other dumb ideas you have posted... this one i can agree on
i didnt like the gamecube version for some reason but if they were to make a new starfox it would have to be like the 64 ver. and continue it from there and maybe just add crystal to the team and have explore another galaxy with many routes like before
some good multiplayer would be nice or to have a co op type thing were you have slippy be replaces with another player or even be able to customize the arwing a bit maybe even use different bombs depending on the character you pick?
my 3DS friend code: 4468-2280-4674
i stopped playing mario kart now and moved on to luigis mansion :P

exception, not the rule...or your milage may vary...or addiction to those games...or they are just that good...or any combination of those...or other

As kkslider so lovingly put it, there are actually a bunch of easy ways to explain that. The one not mentioned by him is that those games were designed to be heavily replayable. Especially Majora's Mask and Skyrim.
Personally, there are only 4 series that I ever replay: Sonic, Mega Man, Ratchet & Clank, and Star Fox. Which is why it'd be very important to me that they make another replayable game. Star Fox Command was good about this, but I just wish it was a better game. Star Fox Assualt Butchered this, having only a couple flags to collect and multiple difficulties that otherwise played the same. If they can keep the stages varied like they were in 64 and Assault, while having lots of different story scenarios and ways that'll get you to replay stuff, I'd be very happy.
