I expect it to not interest me in the slightest and disappoint anyone who thinks Metroid Prime could ever be topped. They seriously did the best anyone possibly could without breaking the bank with that style. Unless they go in another direction again, in which case I don't know what to expect, though if they hire Ninja Team again, I think I can safely assume it'll suck.
I thought you said you don't notice the difference.
I think I'd like to see a bit of a new spin on Metroid for Wii U: a third-person shooter with survival-horror elements, that also loosely follows the footsteps of Metroid Prime (and incorporates bits of Fusion's dark atmosphere), all while providing a new perspective on the series as well. Mind-blowing visuals and vast landscapes in HD, return of the Metroids, SA-X and Space Pirates especially, more kick-@$$ weapons and the re-integration of scanning would all be very welcome.
I'd also expect this game to make impeccable use of the GamePad's functionalities. Any Metroid game would definitely have the potential to.

Since when has Metroid been about vast landscapes? Last time I checked it was all about claustrophobic tunnels and valleys.
Lets throw out one of Nintendo's top designer because he made one game alot of people didn't like. One game. Briliant. We didn't hate Miyamoto because of Wii Music didn't we?
@Neoproteus It would be pretty cool to get a backstory on Ridley. Because of M:OM we know more of how his species look in the early years but not more.

I liked Wii Music.
I know there are people who liked that game, but alot of people didn't.

Go play through all three Prime games.
Which were mostly claustrophobic tunnels and valleys.

Though if you were to compare it too most Western RPGs, it would be considered cramped, but there are plenty of large, beautiful enviorments shown, you don't get to actually play in most of them, but you do get to see them.
Even though I don't think this is what GameLord8 was talking about.
No Metroid Prime. No first person, unless it's to scan. Samus loses her agility when you make it a first person game. The Metroid Prime games felt more like Doom or Quake than Metroid.

Touché. When I wrote that, I was a little ambiguous; I meant probably a change of setting for a new Metroid game, as I said I'd like to see one from another perspective. Sort of like huge planet environments - big dark, cold and overgrown (or even icy, firy etc.) areas to explore in a TPS survival-style Metroid game. I think if tailored properly it could still fit into the theme of the game while giving it a new feel, but I'll admit my hopes may be a little unrealistic.

There's missing the point, and then there's flying to the other side of the universe just to avoid it. This would be the equivalent of comparing Inception to Transformers 3 because...action...and...action...and...um...famous people are actors in it
The Metroid Games: Samus does somersaults all over the place shooting in all directions. Jumping off of walls and stuff.
The Metroid Prime Games: You control like a tank and are barely able to push yourself up off the ground. You can do wall jumps as long as the wall is a pretty color.
