Topic: What do you expect from Fzero U?

It's been awhile since Nintendo has released an Fzero game, longest of all outside Japan. I think not releasing an Fzero game for the Wii was a huge missed opportunity, as the challenge of GX and motion controls would have made an interesting pair. The good news is that they can still do this with the WiiU, either with the Wiimotion Plus, or the Gamepad gyroscope. If it were me designing this, of course I would add a few tweaks, but if it were released at all I would snatch it up right away regardless.

For starters I would change how the boost system works, making it more of a slow burn than an explosion. That's what boost pads are for. I'd also change the mechanic for knocking other cars off the track, making it more intuitive, like Burnout rather than having an attack button like GX. I'd also like to see some kind of story explaining who Captain Falcon is. Having an intro and outro cutscene for each racer, like most fighting games work, would give a lot more character to this series rather than just a portrait, a description, and a tinted glass racecar.

As Japan has already seen two track editors in their versions of Fzero games, I would expect that to be included as well.

What do you think? Will Nintendo even release another Fzero entry or is this series as good as dead?

Pretty much agree with most of what you said. Though I think motion controls would have been awful. The Wii wheel would have been especially laughable.

I just want some HD F-Zero. Just do what GX did and it will be awesome. I don't need too many new things. Maybe some better backstory and more carnage and interactive tracks.

I'm trying to think of a use for the gamepad's screen, but nothing has come to me. F-Zero is the kind of game where you can't afford to look away from the race for a second. One mistake = death or last place.

I don't think motion controlls on a F-Zero game would work. At all. It works well in Mario Kart but it is a much slower game then F-Zero and doesn't require the same precission. As for the boost mechanic, i'm no completely sure what you mean with slow burn. Could you go into more detal. As for the attacking and story thing... Could work i guess? F-Zero GX already had a story mode, so they could just expand on that.

For it to be actually released.

Did you guys know that Nintendo did not develop the GC F-Zero GX? Sega developed the game with supervision from Nintendo. If Nintendo doesn't make the game and has Sega take the reigns again, thats fine by me. Sega did and excellent job with the GC game and I'm still impressed by the amazing graphics to this day.

No, Sega developed it. Namco collaborated with Nintendo and Sega on the arcade counterpart F-Zero AX.

But yeah, it is a superb game and the graphics do still look amazing to this day. I'd be glad to see Sega involved again.

Speaking of F-Zero, Nintendo Land has an F-Zero game! I saw a video demonstration at IGN showcasing the game. Apparently you hold the gamepad vertically and motion steer through traffic.

It was made by Amusement Visions, who did the first 2 Super Monkey Ball games. Considering AV is dead now, I'm gonna assume it's more stupid people in charge letting good developers leave ala Clover Studios.

I guess after Miyamoto's last interview that was posted, we can't expect much from the next F-Zero.

Edited the opener... wow... https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2012/11/miyamoto_puzzled_as_...
C'mon Miyamoto! If you want to change something just change it! Add in the ability to JUMP! Add water levels! Make the cars fly! Anything! If a series is going stagnant don't just abandon it! And if anyone complains about the art style you could say it's satire like The Hunger Games!

Not to be rude but even though I was also disappointed by the f-zero comments I think people are overreacting, He did not say he won't make another f-zero. I think he was just not aware of the demand recently for a new f-zero game due to the lack of popularity (compared to the other nintendo franchises). My point is with the way the question was posted, people read miyamoto's answer the wrong way. Just thought I throw that out there.

I didn't get that impression. While the things you can do with F-Zero might be mroe limited then say Zelda or Mario you can still do new stuff with it.
