Topic: What do I lose by not linking Club Nintendo?

Posts 1 to 17 of 17

I got a Wii U, but had to exchange it due to issues I was having. Due to Nintendo's Network ID and Club Nintendo linking crap, I had to create a new Network ID for the new Wii U and I apparently can't link my Club Nintendo account to the new Network ID... I contacted Nintendo Support via email, but so far no response... Is there another avenue or method to getting this fixed? If I can't get Nintendo support to resolve this, what am I losing out from not having this linked? I believe I won't get Club Nintendo points for eShop purchases, right? Is there anything else I need to know or should be concerned about?

All I'm gonna say is... try your best to get Club Nintendo linked to all your Nintendo stuff because sometimes.... Club Nintendo has REALLY good rewards that are hard to pass up.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

From what i've noticed almost all eshop purchases actually give you points, lately i've downloaded virtual console games from the actual service and I got coins in return for registering the game. Plus the rewards are pretty sweet so I'd say what @Blastoise-san said and try to get it linked to any Nintendo devices you have

I appreciate the info. I don't know if Nintendo support is going to help me with this, but even if they don't it sounds like all I am missing out on is points from eShop purchases, right?

You gain Coins, which are really just points, in Club Nintendo by doing various things like taking surverys, buying games, buying Nintendo stuff, etc. As you gain more and more Coins (points), you will have the option to choose a reward among Club Nintendo. It can be any reward that you want. Club Nintendo is free and is really just a nice service for those who play alotta games on Nintendo platforms.

Club Nintendo does have its problems, though. Most of the rewards are overpriced and sometiems the rewards just plainly suck.
But still... Try to get Nintendo to help you link it. They should be willing to help you. Give them time.

Oh, I have Club Nintendo (about 210 pts from Platinum), just unable to link it to the new Wii U because it's still linked to the Wii U that died and was exchanged. I hope they will be able to help me, but I have read on other sites where people with similar issues have been turned down for some reason.

Thats why if you have problems with your Nintendo systems you send it into Nintendo rather then exchange it at the store you bought it from. I believe there is no way to move a NNID or Club Nintendo account link without both systems and then only Nintendo can perform that kind of transfer.

You can always make a new Club Nintendo account and link your Wii U to that one. Only thing is though you wont be able to combine the coins from both accounts but you wont be losing out on coins that way.

Either that or you can maybe go back to the store that you exchanged your Wii U at and see if you can get the busted system back and then send it into Nintendo.

Bottom line is Nintendo's online/Network ID system is seriously flawed. If my day old system is bricked, I'm going to return/exchange it, not send it in for repairs and with every other console this is not an issue. If I'm not able to get my Club Nintendo account linked, it's not the big a deal. I don't use the eShop much and I can still get points/coins via physical copies.

I will agree with you in that it is flawed it sounds like you were aware that the account is system bound so now I am confused as to why you would exchange it rather then send it in so that way you can have your account transferred.

Just contact Nintendo and tell them what happened. The system you returned will end up going back to them, anyway, so it won't be that hard to delete your old system off the Club Nintendo account to free up the spot for your new one. It won't be immediate, but they'll work thing out for you, I'm sure.

How exactly did it "brick"?

EDIT: Linking to Club Nintendo gives you coins from eShop purchases and extends your warranty by 3 months. I would hold off buying anything digital until they can fix your issue. Even if you have to wait 2-3 days(they'll probably do it immediately), it will still be worth holding off so you can get your coins.

I actually only found out about it after and tried to link my Club Nintendo to my new NNID/Wii U.

i actually never knew anything about registering vc games myself. so the only benefit of registering vc games to club nintendo is to gain coins/points to buy stuff on club nintendo?

Yes! The main advantage to linking your Club Nintendo to your NNID is that you get coins to get rewards stuff. Also, if you have a black Wii U - downloading titles will give you points that go towards the DDP - Deluxe Digital Promotion. I'm not exactly sure if linking your Wii U to Club Ninty is part of the DDP or not. I can't remember the exact details to this promotion but it's something like you get $5 in digital eShop credit for every $50 you download. Again - not sure if that's the exact numbers or not but that's the general idea behind it.

Now, when are we going to Golden Corral???? I'm starvin' here, ogobro!!!

Buying anything off of the Deluxe Wii U gets you 10% back. It's related to your NNID, not Club Nintendo. Club Nintendo is different than the NNID.

$10 is usually 10 club points, but there are variances. Toki Tori, Edge, or Rush cost $2 and get you 10 points. You can get a free game for 100-200 points, such as VC or 3DS eShop games like Dillon's Rolling Western. I got A Link to the Past and the 3DS XL charging cradle in this last months Club Nintendo reward catalogue.

@ogo79
Type in Deluxe Digital Promo in your web browser. Go to the site. Type in your NNID and password to claim your bonus $5 eShop funds.

This only works with Deluxe Set owners.
