I like the Pro Controller. It's very easy to use and plays just like an XBOX controller. I never use the tablet unless I have to.

IMO the 360 controller is meh. It's not uncomfortable, but that's the best I can say. It's really just adequate for everything. Also the button layout is bothersome. It works on 3DS because everything is close together, but on a larger controller, it's again just adequate.

That just means your hands are too small for it. (Or thumb if you are talking about the face buttons).

I have the opposite issue with the Gamecube controller.

I have pretty avg sized hands. Just not a fan of the shape. IMO despite its button layout, the DS4 is much better.

As for button layout, I prefer to have a central button where I keep my thumb, the GC controller is the only one that does that.

I finally got a couple of Pro Controllers (one white from Japan and the black one that's available in the UK - why the restrictions Nintendo?) for Smash and Hyrule Warriors and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The greater width means you can access the d-pad as easily as with the CCPro and putting the sticks above makes them feel less "in the way" than that controller without making them harder to use. I think the Gamecube is a nice design, but button layout and that rubbish d-pad are not fun for classic games.
