Topic: What can I do get my CN account back?

Sorry if it's on the wrong forums. I don't know where to post this thread. Anyway......I lost my CN account due to guy on Reddit. (I was trading with him. I were suppose to get New Mario Bros 2 from him while I give him Super Mario 3D Land. But I was busy with some things. I told him I couldn't get on there since I was busy.) So, I gave him my account and told him to get Super Mario 3D land. He told me to wait for at least 5 minutes till he gives me New Super Mario Bros 2 account. So I waited. He didn't contact me for 10 minutes. I began to worry. I went to Club Nintendo to login in to see if he got the right stuff to get. But, I couldn't sign in. I try for like, 20 times. Then I try to use the forgot Username and Password link. So oddly, it said the email doesn't have a CN account attached to it. Then I noticed it. He stole my CN account. Even worse, my account is platinum and it has the Mewtwo code with it. And it has at least 3254 coins on there. Literally. I don't know what to do. Nintendo just released the Elite rewards. Plus, I don't want to wait for the new program to start over again. (Plus, the new Program probably gonna be released late this year.) Is there's anything I can do to get my CN account back?

Contact nintendo, and see if they can do anything.

Though they might actually not like that you willingly shared your account details with another person.

Honestly I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it's gone. I doubt Nintendo will do anything since you willingly gave him your info. Just chalk it up as lesson learned.

If it's any consolation, at least it was a Club Nintendo account, and not one that will be around in 3 month's time.

Don't hate me because I'm bnahabulous.

3254 coins. Damn. You can literally redeem 10+ games on there. I feel your pain buddy, I really do. But you should have known better. Greed is very ungly. I hope Nintendo will be able to work something out for you. Keep us posted and good luck.

@Haru17 He lost 3254 coins + platinum rewards. I'd say that's a huge lost.

Why didn't you just go grab the code yourself to send to him? I don't see how you saved more than a few seconds of time by going that route.

And why not just redeem for what you wanted, instead of trading? Or are you guys in two different regions (I see that North America has NSMB2 as a platinum reward, but I see no sign of SM3DLand). If that's the case, I'm surprised the codes would've even worked.

Even if you get it back, I doubt it will have coins on it anymore

I thought the same thing. lol^^
Something smells pretty fishy here. I mean.. Why would you ever share login infos(an account with this value)?

I don't think Nintendo will help you there. From the terms and conditions page:
"You may not: make use of Coins in any way other than for your own or members of your Family Account's personal use — in particular, you may not sell, buy or auction Coins or transfer Coins to another account; "

Not really sure what you can do, but at least in future you'll be more careful when sharing info over the internet.

Could be worse, you could have given him power of attorney.

The second thing you said is true.

Chances are then that unless you've done this sort of thing before across regions, it wasn't even going to work. An eShop download code for something like the European eShop seems highly unlikely to work in the North American eShop and vice versa, making it all the more pointless.

I suspect if this happened as you said, the person that you say that you provided your account data to wasn't able to actually redeem the codes himself unless he lied about being from a different region. He likely sold them or traded them for something he could make use for, and perhaps spent some of the coins on physical items after entering an address for someone he knew that resides in Europe.

Like I think I saw someone say, lesson learned. And a fairly cheap one at that about common sense and your log-in information, considering that technically, you didn't lose a dollar.

As a bit of advice if I were you I would change any passwords or login names that might be the same or similar to your CN info on other sites. You don't need him/her seeing what else they might have access to.

Yeah, that's a good bit of advice.

He was just trading a coin reward (SM3DL) for someone else's platinum.

It's not that uncommon and doesn't necessarily mean he's trading with someone from a different region.

I didn't realize that there were any full fledged retail releases available as coin rewards. But sure enough, there is. I mistakenly thought that was limited to the platinum selections only and knowing that Super Mario 3D Land wasn't a platinum choice here in North America, I jumped to a conclusion.

He already confirmed that it was accurate though, so apparently, I lucked out and was correct just the same.
