Topic: went to best buy last night...

Finally, someone who actually pays attention to the rating system!!!!! Do you know how many children's parents I see around that demographic getting GTA, CoD, AC, and Gears of War type games for their children? A lot more than I'm comfortable with sadly.

Lol actually this brings to mind something I noticed that I thought was funny. I recently got Final Fantasy 7 and I took a look at the rating on it which is Teen. What I found funny is the reason why. They put on there "realistic violence."

I would say Nintendo needs to do more to get its reps into the store but they don't have a big product portfolio like Apple, Microsoft, and Google so there's no point of the store inside of a store for them..

Even gamestop which is a gaming based store I still remember people ignoring Nintendo stuff. I remember when I went to go pick up twilight princess and the rep swore they didn't have any despite the game being right behind her and she looked right at it to get the copy of Final Fantasy III I had asked for.

Yea - just because some people work at Gamestop or Best Buy doesn't mean they know everything about video games. And let's be honest: Nintendo is no longer very popular amongst 20-somethings and late teens who tend to be the staff at these stores. The gaming community is mostly "PS4 or Xbox One" right now, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. In my opinion, Super Mario 3D World is fantastic and SHOULD be more recognized for the awesomeness it is, but it's going to take the new Zelda or Smash Brothers to actually catch the attention of the "bro" gamers and the gaming community at large.

The last time I went to Best Buy... My sister and I was playing with the Wii U's Gamepad on display. A second later, I heard a man and his woman ask an employee, "I wanna buy some games for my son. Can you help me?". The employee led them to the Wii U section and pointed to a few Wii U games. The man and woman picked up a few games and examined the desciption on the cases.
I smiled as this happened right in front of me.
Best Buy had given the Wii U an entire section to itself with a bunch of games on display. I hinted to my family that I wanted a Wii U for Christmas again and left the store.

True, but there are some people that will simply never play any games like those ever, sadly. I actually got picked on in school because I played Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc. and didn't have an Xbox.

Simply put folks, in case you couldn't tell by my other post on this thread, my area sure does have some elitist (insert adjective here)'s in it.

Most the people that I have ran into at GameStop are actually very knowledgeable about games and consoles. They may not know everything but who does. Best Buy employees on the other hand, I think they just throw them in sections and expect them to know the answers to peoples questions regardless of whether or not they know anything about that section. BUT, here is my problem, when a rep states he is a huge gaming geek and says he knows everything about the systems then goes on to completely write off the Wii U as a choice basically, to me is absurd.

It reminds me of when I was a bit younger and I was very much into the whole "tuner" movement going on in my city. Now I probably spent around the same amount of money they did on their brand new cars but mine was an older car with a few miles on the body but I had actually built my engine and sent my money on the right stuff. When ever i would go to our meet ups i was constantly harped on and asked why i got THAT car and why I didnt spend my money on a "real" car. I only lost a handful of races but they where only to the cars with bigger engines and most the time it wasn't by much. I still got harassed about my choice in a car but in the end I felt good because i pissed a bunch of people off who thought they could take me. These kids thought they knew what they were talking about and thought they knew what they where doing with their cars but in fact they didn't. I guess my advantage was I had an uncle who was a mechanic and told me the right stuff i needed and helped me.

So I guess what I'm saying is that if your going to act like you know what your talking about and say you do then put the time in to research the topic so you don't look like an idiot in fount of those who have and do. Don't think I'm bias to just Nintendo, if this had happen to anyother system I'd think the same way. Just because mommy and daddy can buy the best and newest dosent mean its the best for you. This kid was young, probably doesnt need to be going around playing games where he is sticking a knife in someone's back or doing headshots at 10 meters.

I remember about 13 years ago I worked at a Toys R Us and they trained us that if a costomer had a question about a product and we didn't know anything about it to read the print on the packaging to give them an answer which says a lot about store employees. I've almost never found them to be very helpful.

Guys...I hate to break it to you, people just don't care about the Wii U.

@Sidewinder lol you mean Nintendo fans aren't people? they care about WiiU, Nintendo itself does too and I also bet the VideoGame stores that sell it also care because it's never a benefit to a store keeping a stock of anything and if they don't care about something they're selling they will lose money for getting it to sell and not selling(it's a double cost having bought the units, obvious part, and keeping stock is also a cost, something most people overlook or simply don't know, the longer a product stays there unsold the more expensive it will have been to the store as it takes space that could be used for something else and requires "maintenance", in this case the "maintenance" is pretty much just keeping the space clean) <<< wow look at me I was trying to be a joker and instead was nerdy enough to make a solid answer, I need to stop this dumb habit....
