@Klimbatize man we have spoiler tags now why destroy all the fun for everyone not using them?

@kyuubikid213 true but it's kinda Nintendo's fault in these years of the DS gen we saw:
DS
DSLite
DSi
DSiXL
all those were almost the same one only a small upgrade from the previous one so people who don't follow gaming(or Nintendo being more specific) will be confused by it because lately Nintendo released so many small upgrades with even smaller name changes, for someont that does not understand the WiiU is the same for Wii as the DSi(XL) was to the DS(Lite)

Actually when he came over I was talking about the PS4 and what I liked about it. I wasn't being particularly bias to Nintendo. He didn't know I even mentioned the Wii U. So he didn't have a reason to defend any system. The father even asked about the Wii U and we was giving a short answer and no more info on the system. I'm not bias to just nintendo as I have always had PlayStation. The Wii U was better on my wallet but I feel its also a fantastic system.

But you clearly state in your original post that you were selling them on a Wii U. Defending wasn't the best word for me to use, as it doesn't sound like it really played out that way. If you were selling them on a Wii U (like you said you were), don't you think it's his job to make sure they clearly understand the PS4, and help them make an educated choice? Since you were selling them on the Wii U, should he not come say "Don't rule out the PS4 yet guys, it has some good qualities of it's own." I wasn't there, but from what you're posting it sounds like he was doing his job by trying to point out how awesome the PS4 is after you tried to sell them on a Wii U. Where's the problem?

HE didn't even know I mentioned the Wii U. I thought I said that. He never mentioned the Wii U and barely talked about the Xbone, it was mainly about the PS4. I was selling them the Wii U, they liked what they heard and I was also giving them good info on the other two systems and pointed out the pros and cons of all three systems. Like you said, you weren't there but if you were you would have noticed his bias and lack of info.

How do you know he didn't hear you? You said you were drawing their attention, and that a crowd was gathering. It would only take a few seconds to realize that because of what you were saying people were leaning towards a Wii U. What exactly was he telling them? I'm going off of a lot of assumptions because your original post wasn't quite clear on what he was telling everyone. Was he just saying "its an upgraded wii buy the ps4, buy the ps4, buy the ps4!"or was he actually talking about the overall quality of the system? I mean, both systems are quality by all means, but if someone is in my store selling people on a Wii U, I'm sure gonna make sure they know they have options.

He never mentioned ANYTHING about the Wii U and blew off any questions about the system.

He might have heard me but even if he did, the Wii U to him was a sub par system that wasn't worth talking about and didn't deserve the attention.

In a sense yes but I wasn't pushing the Wii U like he was the PS4. I was giving them info on all three and they seemed to be liking the info on the Wii U better, they really liked the fact that the Wii U is backwards compatible since they have a big library of Wii games. I did mention as well that the Wii U has its downfalls as in a small online community yet its a great community, few third party support which means few third party games, and a small amount of GB but can use an added on external HDD of 2TB.

As a salesperson, he has to answer the customer's questions. THAT'S his job. Not necessarily selling the most expensive item, but helping the customer with what they want help with.

Actually, salespeople are trained and told to "upsell" items to increase profit. If that means selling someone a product that they may not necessarily need, but that costs more, so be it.

You expect me to believe that sales people are clueless about one product yet are very knowledgeable about others because of Nintendo? Explain to me how that's Nintendo's fault

@FutureAlphaMale: That's not necessarily true. Many stores (I'm familiar with Target's training policies) are concerned primarily with pleasing the customer. These stores realize that happy customers will return and spend more. What good is selling a $500 console if the consumer returns it opened and is less likely to buy more game or accessories at your store?

Anyway, this is typical sales staff behavior. If you get someone who knows something, half the time they can' be trusted to answer your questions objectively. In the Videogame department, for your whatever reasons, bias is widespread.

In Wii U's case, understand that some of it's most alluring features are also not conducive to the retail sect. Free online? No subscription cards or deals (Best Buy loves these). Offscreen play? Can't sell you other devices that accomplish similar tasks. Backwards compatibility? Potentially less new release sales. And so on.

Something like the Xbox One is practically an ATM machine under the guise of a media device. Every feature is a portal to another potential fee.

(Never mind that it likely profiles it's users to an unprecedented degree. Requiring a 500MB update to play games out of the box is an insulting ploy. Then the device watches and listens, yet the user can't manage the data on the hard drive. Consider that consumer profiles are like gold in marketing and that gamers largely comprise the most desirable audience. Not to mention, the set-top box holy grail is controlling the access and distribution to all media content... Scary stuff.)

To expand upon my earlier comment, I think it's also likely that retailers doubt the future of strictly game-oriented devices.

Consider that even with tremendous success, the 3DS is still struggling to gain more of a retail foothold after initially being written off as a casualty of the mobile future. It's likely these companies are concerned about risking much more shelf space when they think us stalwart Nintendo fans will eventually get with the times and worship a smart phone.

I also just love how the "U" at the end of Wii U just magically throws people off...Seriously?

"Oh, I guess since the Wii part is the same, it's just an add-on."

So the Xbox and the Xbox One didn't confuse people? Bull.

I can understand the PlayStation difference because they number those, but really? No one is that dumb.

Reminds me of when I was telling someone about how the Wii U wasn't selling well. For some reason, they decided to block out that I told them it was a new console, and preceded to tell me that the Wii didn't sell well because "it was targeted at families", and they are "a smaller audience" than "hardcore gamers." -_-

It's sad when someone commits themselves to preventing the sales of one console without even getting paid for it. In the situation I was a Best Buy employee trying to sell consoles, I'd go by this process:

What kind of gaming is this family looking to do?

a) Primarily Family-Oriented, Multiplayer Gaming (Wii U)
b) Individual, Long Session Gaming (PS4, Xbox One)

What is the price range this family is looking for?

a) Burning Cash (Super PC)
b) Well-to-do (Xbox One)
c) Average Joe (PS4)
d) More Average Joe (Wii U)
e) Budget (PS3)
f) Low Budget (Wii)

I'm not implying that the Wii U is a family-only console please note, but it will better fulfill that category that the PS4 and One. It can also be taken into account that a family could buy a used console.

How old was the kid? I mean if the kid was younger than 15 or so then there's really only one of the three consoles that has any sort of game library that's appropriate. The only games I'd say are appropriate and good for a kid are Resogun, Flower, Fortza, FIFA, Madden and NBA across both of the new consoles... then the Wii U has Super Mario 3D World, Pikmin 3, Rayman Legends, Wind Waker HD, New Super Mario Bros U, Nintendo Land, Skylanders etc.

Seriously, the only reason you'd buy those new consoles now is for a higher resolution versions of CoD, Battlefield or Assassin's Creed. None of those games are really appropriate for the average kid shopping for consoles with his dad. So the best recommendation is Wii U or wait.

He was around 15 I'd say. His father really didn't know much about any if the systems. The PS4 had a copy of AC4 for demo and it was better graphics wise then the Wii U but honestly... Not by much. I like Assassins Creed but I HATE the way they do the shadows on that game, its so grainy and weird.

Who said that the whole Xbox/Xbox One thing wouldn't confuse people everyone said it would confuse people! And also, Nintendo did say DS, DSlite, DSi, DSiXL are all the same system, but the U at the end designates it as a new system. I can see why they'd be confused.

My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.

I've never been there. How is it? And what's the resolution on that chocolate fountain - 720 or 1080p?
