So yesterday, I received a Wii U as a gift from my mother( it was the Mario U+Luigi U bundle). So, here's a quick rundown of my impressions so far( keep in mind that I actually haven't gotten to play any games on the console as of yet besides the Sonic Lost World demo).
PROS
Controller feels really good in my hands, screen is great too
Internet browser is SOOOO GOOD
Console is slick,small and quiet
Miiverse and Wara Wara plaza is great
UI is a bit simple but gets the job done
VNintendo games in HD!
CONS
Did Nintendo pick the absolute WORST wifi chip for this console? It takes forever to update and download software
The console could still be faster(still feels a little sluggish)
Battery life on the Gamepad is abysmal
Still a lack of an eShop account system
So far, I'm having an enjoyable time with the console but I still need to have more time with it. I'll probably give updated impressions later. Anyway thanks for reading my impressions. If anybody has any game recommendations then feel free to tell me, thanks.

This frustrates me so much.
We planned to replace our Wii console, but gave up on that idea because our Wii U can't hold a connection for Netflix, can't use the browser or access MiiVerse consistently, and rarely manages to connect to the eShop. Unfortunately we can't relocate our router very easily, and it's also not possible to move our living room or add an ethernet drop nearby. I like the Wii U design in general and know there are games on it I'd like to play, but the wireless reception and speed are both terrible and make it impossible for me to recommend the console to friends or family.
That said, I strongly prefer disc-based games anyway. So while missing out on all the extra stuff (especially Netflix) is a huge loss I'm still content to keep my system around for great games like Super Mario 3D World.

Pretty sure this isn't a universal problem, I stream super HD from netflix and crunchy roll with no problems. If I'm playing GW2 or Battlefield on my PC at the same time it might need to buffer a few times but that's it.
I recommend getting the wired attachment if you continue having problems.
The Wii U hates wifi, so you better use an ethernet cable for it. The OS is a lot faster than it was when I bought mine in February, but it still could be even faster.
People are still having problems with Wi-fi on their Wii U? I say this in every thread: Update your router, for crying out loud. Either that, or ask your internet provider when they will give you a new one. EDIT: Routers generally become obsolete after 3-5 years. I had an old Actiontec router that lasted me 4 years before I had to replace it. I NEEDED to keep updating it in order for it work, until there wasn't a new firmware.
Your router needs firmware upgrades as much as your Wii U does. If you don't update it, it will start to lag behind. In most cases, causing freezes.
EDIT: The next time my Wii U freezes, I will go check to see if there is a new firmware update. Also, don't port forward unless you absolutely have to.
Super Mario 3D World
Wind Waker HD
Earthbound (VC)
Need For Speed MWU
AC4: Black Flag
and Deus Ex: Director's Cut are my recommendations, I also have to run my Wii U via ethernet but thats just because my internet provider in general is terrible (yes I upgraded to a new router recently) and I'm planning on switching to a different provider soon..

Its a great console with good games for it. Get ready for a bunch of blind hate and jealously from Sony and Microsoft fanboys as soon as you say, "I like the Wii U."
I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

All I know is that I've been wi-fi gaming on Nintendo systems since 2005 for DS and 2007 or so for Wii. Did anyone ever play Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 with the Wii Zapper?
That had 32 player online with no lag.
EDIT: In regards to the OP. Enjoy it. There are plenty of good games for it. I'd recommend Mario 3D World, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Tekken Tag 2, ZombiU, maybe a few VC games, Wii Ware is still there, etc. There's alot to play. As you can tell from my rants, make sure you have a good internet connection if you don't want to make a thread about how Wii U has a bad internet connection.

wait is it worse than the 3DS?!?!?!(but now that I think the 3DS' internet is only slow on that terrible browser)
goodbyes are a sad part of life but for every end there's a new beggining so one must never stop looking forward to the next dawn

Funny, I bought my router only three months before I bought my Wii U. Not to mention that aside from my DSs, PSP, and Wii; everything practically works on my router. My router is only a little over a year old, and it obviously doesn't need updates anytime soon (if at all). Stop trying to defend Nintendo. They royally messed up on the Wii U's wifi, end of story.
But using an ethernet cable on the Wii U makes the connection lightning fast, so it's a (possible) blessing in disguise anyway. But I shouldn't have to use my Wii LAN Adapter on my Wii U just to use my ethernet cable. I should be able to plug an ethernet cable directly into it just like my PS3 and Xbox 360. Nintendo is sadly still in the Stone Age when it comes to online.
