OK, so they're not EXACTLY the same - that'd be no fun. However, I think that the constant references to "non-specific action figure" was a sly nod to those in the know, if you will, and we might see some Rainbow action at E3.

Well I genuinely think they might have been hinting at it, so I thought it was worth an extra thread. I hadn't seen anyone else point it out.

As I said, they're not exactly the same. I'm thinking Nintendo didn't want to stick what is obviously Captain Rainbow in the video, so they just went to a dollar shop, bought a blue action figure and spend 2 minutes painting him to vaguely resemble CR as sort of an in joke/hint.

It's possible, but there's a LOT of other explanations.
It would be much cheaper to get an action figure and edit it VS creating a new one from scratch. Or it could just be a coincidence. Or the guy who did the action figure might just be a fan of "Captain Rainbow".

It would, although it'd still cost them to translate it (although I don't know how much text and voice is in the game, and therefore if it would be hugely expensive or not).

That's the kind of thing I was addressing a while ago on these forums - Nintendo could potentially release digital-only versions of games that aren't guaranteed hits, in order to reduce the risk to them.

Other than their eye shape (and only the shape) and the blue body suit/ skin (and the "superhero" build), they look nothing like each other at all.

I hope this happens. Earthbound? Fire Emblem? Starfy?
