I love how they marketed Wii as if you can simply switch the entire game over to the gamepad independent of the tv. Yes,I saw several demos where a child simply walked off with the gamepad to play elsewhere. The reality is most of the games are programmed to use the gamepad, and tv together. You do this on the tv, and that on the gamepad! You look up at the tv for this...now look down at the control pad for that If you are going to market the system as independent you have to program all the games to run indpendent of the television. Very misleading indeed.

If I'm not mistaken, aren't Zombi U and Nintendo Land the only launch games you can't do this for?

And why are you complaining when those games are specifically design for that use?

Isn't Zombi U and Nintendo Land the only games that you can't play on the Gamepad so far? I wouldn't say it's that big of a deal.

If every game could be played on just the controller, there would be zero purpose to the gamepad when the tv is available.

Woah. We were on the exact same train of thought.
It's not even funny how soon you posted after me.

It's not misleading at all. The GamePad can be used to play many games independently, with the exception of Nintendo Land and Zombi U. Some games need the GamePad as they make use of functions that can't be forfitted in-game, but for the most part, yes, the GamePad can be used independently across a variety of titles.

If that's misleading to you, then with all due respect, your interpretation of advertising is rather questionable.

Its up to the developer the system can do that so what's the problem

Very valid points. I didnt know that only Zombie U and Nintendoland cant be played independently. Perhaps my opinion will change when I get a game like Mario U.

Of course it will change. The gamepad can be used independently with NSMBU and what @GameLord08 said.
Do your research!
