Topic: Used Wii-U and Nintendo account system?

I bought a used Wii-U from a nice guy (+20), he regret the purchase and wanted to sell the Wii-U for a ps4.
He play the Wii-U for a few weeks and use the Zelda voucher code on the box (downloaded it to the Wii under his account)

When he sold me the Wii-U, he told me that he never went online, and if I wish I can take over his Wii-U account that is present on the Wii-U in order to enjoy (and not to lose) the Zelda game.

I like the Zelda game so:
1. Is it possible for me to save the Zelda game on to SD card/external hard drive) and format the Wii-U, and set up my own account and keep the Zelda game? is the game DRM assign to the account or to the console?
2. Does it matter if I use his account (update the info and change passwords) or if I use my own?
3. How the Nintendo account system works?

Thank you all.

1a. Which Zelda game is it?
1b. Wii U saves are not tied to an account and can be moved to an external data storage. The Wii U however does not use SD cards, but the Wii mode does. You can only use hard drives with the Wii U.
2. If his account doesn't have a credit card attached, it should be fine. You cannot change the log in name though.
3. Nintendo's account system is very archaic. It's tied to the Wii U, so you have to go through a process to move it to another one (which shouldn't be a problem right now). However, you can make purchases on your PC or phone and have them downloaded on the Wii U.

I think the best way is just to keep his account on the Wii U and then also make your own.

You can have more than one NNID on the console. Make new purchases with your own NNID. How did the guy download a game if he never went online?

I think if the game was preinstalled it wouldn't matter if you wiped the console. Since he made a NNID and used a download code I think the game would be erased if you wiped the console because its tied to his NNID. If you still really want to wipe it and keep the game they can probably help you if you call nintendo and explain the situation. (edit:upon further investigation I don't think they will help you legally transfer the purchases between NNID's)

I believe the DRM is mostly tied to the console but also to your NNID. You can not log in to another Wii U with your NNID. You can have more than one NNID on your Wii U. You will always be at risk of this guy trying to recover his games and disabling them on your console....

So I guess technically your purchases are tied to your NNID but your NNID is tied to the hardware. Nintendo will help people migrate their NNID between hardware however and this is where your risk comes in.
