Interesting. I wonder when these games will release?
Regarding the Animal Crossing U rumor, there are 2 events that seem to point that something might be happening fairly soon:
1. The Animal Crossing Plaza app for Wii U stops functioning at the end of 2014
2. The Animal Crossing: New Leaf producer and director were at NoA in Redmond this spring.

I understand the first point, but what does the second one have to do with an Animal Crossing U game?

The development of New Leaf was completed more than 2 years ago (even though localization took an additional half a year at NoE/NoA). By springtime 2014, those people would have moved on to new projects?

I understand that they're probably working on a new project, but I cannot understand how them visiting NOA relates to an AC game on the Wii U. I'm not trying to argue with you or anything, I think I'm just missing something...

You might be right that there is no connection. This is a rumor thread after all.
But the pattern for AC during the past 10 years seems to be home console-portable-home console-portable. It would be logical that the next release would be a home console version? And for New Leaf, the localization work at the Treehouse apparently started extremely early (in March 2012) - 8 months before the Japanese version was released (and 15 months before the western releases of the game), to add specific features to the western versions of New Leaf.
Aya Kyogoku (who was in the US in spring 2014) seems specialized at Animal Crossing in recent years, since the time she moved from the Zelda writing team. Katsuya Eguchi was also there, but he produces just about everything within his EAD, so that wouldn't mean anything.
Animal Crossing U is obviously coming. Same for a new 3D Mario. Both are 2016 games, I bet. Pikmin for New 3DS... Ummmm.... I won't but that. Another Zelda game for handheld... Please let Zelda U be the only Zelda game for a while!!! Jeez... I love Zelda but there is just too much of it going on.
I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

The Zelda franchise isn't going anywhere until Hyrule Warriors 2: Electric Boogaloo is a thing.
I wonder what Nintendo Corporate Espionage pays? I wouldn't mind seeing the inner workings of Nintendo and getting paid for it....at least until the Nintendo Ninjas ended my existence.

Haha, for a moment, I was imagining Shiek hanging from the ceiling in Iwata's office, and Skyward Sword Impa hiding under the carpet!

Every time I think of Animal Crossing I think of Harvest Moon as well. I wouldn't mind seeing an AC U game, but now that I have it in my head, I think we're long overdue for a Harvest Moon U game. Long.
