Just in case you use Uplay change your Passwords asap, you should have a email from Ubisoft too.
Ubisoft's Uplay website has been hacked, leading to user's account information being accessed and therefore compromised. While Ubi has commenced a “thorough investigation with relevant authorities,” security experts have recommended that users change their passwords as soon as possible, as the company works on ”restoring the integrity of any compromised systems.”
You can change your Ubisoft password here. We suggest doing so now, if you can. Thankfully, no personal payment data is stored on the Uplay site, so debit or credit card information is safe from the breach. User names, email addresses and encrypted passwords meanwhile are not safe, hence Ubi's advisement that users change their passwords.
Got the email, checked it wasn't bogus, and changed by password. I don't think I've bought any Ubisoft DLC anyway, so I think I'm safe.
I don't think it matters if you bought anything. Just having a uplay account is the issue. Access to just passwords can be potentially devestating to some.
Well, this sucks. I don't use the service myself, but it's an awful feeling to have when you know someone has compromised your server and stolen people's passwords.
Also, people who use this should change any passwords that just happen to match the one used on the Uplay website. Because I'm sure whoever got in might be trying to figure out if there's anything else they can get with the stolen passwords...
I joined since I bought ZombiU. It really only matters if you were buying things off of there with a credit card.
I was using it just for the rewards on ZombiU, but I changed it anyway.

Come on people, if your going to have an online infrastructure, at least keep it secure. Jeez... people might complain about Nintendo being a bit slow on the internet front, but at least it never got hacked. At least, not to my knowledge.

It explicitly says user names, email addresses and encrypted passwords are not safe. Credit card information is safe from the breach. Accessed passwords are the issue here.

Well, in the worse case scenario, the hackers could potentially sign in and obtain information, if I understand correctly.
The same thing happened to PSN a couple years ago. The hackers obtained the passwords, PSN IDs, then logged in. The difference is whether they log in to accounts and obtain the info.
The fact that hackers obtained passwords is a warning sign to change the passwords before the problem can possibly escalate past just having access to passwords.

Thanks for the heads up. I just signed up like 2 days ago too. Oh well, I don't think I had any important info on there, and it was a unique password and I didn't even use my main e-mail address, so I think now that I changed the password I should be fine.
