Topic: Ubisoft States That The Wii U Couldn't Handle AC Unity, You Would Feel Cheated By A Lesser Version

"It wouldn’t be possible, in our minds we’d be cheating fans by providing a lesser version of the same game." Oh really? You're against that, eh? Then where, fray-tell, is the Watch_Dogs DLC in the Wii U version? Hypocrites...

(Stuff like Arkham City the advantages of the PC versions outweigh what the Wii U has - 60fps most importantly).

To be fair, you are missing the point as the PC version of any game is superior to their console counterpart, no exceptions, he is comparing against consoles

Bollocks about the crowd stuff though. It'll just be a few instances in the game when you can perform a few crowd-centric actions. Revolutionary gameplay stemming from it? Nah.

Rayman Legends isn't. The additions to the Wii U version like the Murphy levels are worth more than what you get from the PC version.

There are other odd examples like the Gamecube version of Sonic Adventure 2 : Battle which is flawless. All later ports (PC / PS3 etc are not).

There is other stuff like Bully : Scholarship Edition where the PC and 360 ports are really buggy but the Wii one is basically perfect. (And the motion controls make it better).

I think the issue is that their engines aren't able to do it. Ubisoft hasn't released a single game that Xbox 360 and PS3 are unable to handle yet. Once Xbox 360 and PS3 can't run games well enough anymore, Wii U will still be here.

If Wii U can run DX11-12 equivalent graphics, the newest Cryengine, and has basically twice as much specs as Xbox 360 on paper, the problem lies within Ubisoft and their engine or audience issues for releasing a game that can run via copy and paste(for the most part) like Splintercell. If Rogue isn't even going to happen, the issue lies deeper than hardware, and that's beside the point.

Tessellation is the DX11 feature that makes the most difference. But next gen Tomb Raider didn't even use it.

Such a lie!! Wii u can handle what a Ps4 and Xbox One can handle, play Mario Kart 8 to see proof.

UPDATE: Bowser just ate some cake and it was yummy

A console much less powerful can't run a game made for two much more powerful consoles. We needed someone to tell us this?

Actually they say the Wii U can run it, just with some compromises that they don't think Wii U owners would like

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I'm not really surprised, I don't think the Wii U could run AC: Unity without compromises to be honest.

AC: Rogue is another matter, and it's a shame we will not see a Wii U version.

PS4/Xbone couldn't run Watchdogs without compromises. (So they just downgraded the PC version which had the potential actually work properly and look like they promised).

They are scumbags and they pretty much have been since they first used Starforce.

How is having a Wii U version cheating on fans more than deliberately reducing the quality of the PS4 version to match the XB1 version? We all know the Wii U is inferior to the PS4/XB1 with regard to specs, but the PS4 is the most powerful console this gen, and they're forcing that version to match a version inferior to it for no reason other than to make them equal......

I guess I'll be looking at getting it on PC then. That said I'm a bit burned on Ubisoft's games lately. May just wait and see if I'm still interested in it when the next big sale hits....

Well, the XB1/PS4 versions are confirmed 900p 30fps, so yeah, I believe them when they say they couldn't get it to run well enough on Wii U. Problem is that releasing a late, gimped version for Nintendo owners has never stopped Ubisoft before, and this excuse doesn't work at all for Rogue.

Look we have to accept the fact that if the Wii U was selling better numbers it would either have a ported down version of this or having Rogue on it. And before people say that the Wii U has sold more then the Xbox One, Assassin's Creed Black Flag sold more in the Xbone then on the Wii U. I'm not saying Ubisoft hasn't made mistakes but we also have to accept that the audience just isn't big enough now for this type of game to be successful, hopefully Bayonetta 2 and Devil's Third will change those perceptions cause I really want a (good) Star Wars game on the Wii U

Yep nail on the head sales on the WII U do not justify publishers spending money bring games to the platform, I dont see Bayonetta 2 or Devil's third being system sellers tho....

I can only see Bayonetta 2 being at least somewhat successful if Smash is delayed to 2015 as well as the Mario Kart 8 and Hyrule Warriors DLC being late November.

Mario Karts release boosted console sales slightly but I dont see DLC doing that Hyrule warriors and Bayonetta 2 are both titles that apeal to a small crowd that more than likely already have a WII U. I dont see anyone going out and spending £300 on a WII U so they can play one game.
