“As a company, we like the Wii U,” Key told IGN. “We really believe that the second screen can add a new dimension to gaming. We’re still big supporters of that system. We have just as many games coming out on Wii U this year as we did at launch. So we like the second screen. We think there are opportunities with all these games to extend them – to another person, to another location. We’re taking it very seriously.”
Key explained that a big part of making that second screen experience worthwhile is adding mobile companion apps, which will be supported by most of Ubisoft’s upcoming titles, including Watch Dogs, The Division and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.
“It’s not necessarily next-generation, but it’s next-generation thinking,” Key said. “We want to extend the experience to whatever screen is handy. We have been looking for ways to take advantage of these second screens. Those companion apps are our first attempt at doing that.”

What do you think about what Ubisoft said about the Wii U? Do you agree? I still think that it lost some faith, as they aren't bringing some of thier new titles on the console, like The Crew.

Well, they are certainly being more supportive of the Wii U then most other third party developers at the moment...

They put Splinter Cell on there despite the fact that no one could possibly believe Splinter Cell will do all that well on Wii U when it comes out. That says a lot to me.

I said it before and I said it again. When they put Rayman Legends on other consoles, they said they wanted to put games on as many systems as they could. And then they announced 3 of their games for Wii U despite selling ridiculously low number since January and probably being a nightmare to convince everyone at their company that this is in any way a good idea right now (more a statement against short term financial gains for business than against Wii U). That says a lot to me.

Ubisoft has a lot of faith in the Wii U, although they show it in a very odd way. If Ubisoft really didn't care about the console, they would have stopped working on games for it, kinda like EA.

I think they are putting in more effort than most. Honestly I am surprised they have stuck along this long. Looking at sales data and other such factors it is a tough decision to decide whether it is worth the money or not to develop for Wii U. The sales have been low yet they continue to support, what more can you ask for? I'm not going to ask Ubisoft to spend money on a port of a game, such as The Crew, taking time to scale down graphics and utilize the second screen and everything else involved when they may not even make a decent profit.

zombi u gave the survival horror genre a much needed kick up the ass.

And I believe the Wii U and ubi soft deserve recognition for that

Their Wii U exclusives didn't sell as well as they had hoped, so they stopped making exclusives for the system, thus the system doesn't sell as well. Vicious cycle...

I have Rayman Legends pre ordered for Wii U. Honestly, Ubisoft has been there for the Wii U from the start. 6 launch day titles, 1 launch window game in December, and 6 titles on the way. Ubisoft has been pretty supportive of Wii U and I think we owe it to them to buy a Wii U version or 2 of their games.

At least one third-party gaming company is "helping" Nintendo. There does appear to be a lot of Ubisoft games, and Ubisoft is making unique use of the gamepad. I'm glad to hear that.

I do like how they are supporting the wii u and I do plan to pick up Black flag for Wii U (rather then pc).BUT I have never seen such a mixed message , I mean its just rolling in contradictions.

First there is they like the whole dual screen thing , but then the game to takes advantage of it the most (the division) also one of the more anticipated game from ubisoft wont be coming to the wii u.Then there was the whole they wont make games due to units sold , but they like the system . In addition to the its a psudo next gen console .

I feel that ubisoft is biding its time until xbox and ps to see how this plays out (which I feel will be surprising to most to what they expect).

You're right. Why support a developer that's going to lose a lot of money bringing expensive triple A games to a dead end console, when they're not even exclusive?

Ditto on this. Ubisoft is supporting Wii U more than any other 3rd party despite how awful Wii U is currently doing and people have the audacity to demand a bunch of exclusives?

It was possible for Rayman Legends to be exclusive to the Wii U, but it turns out that it has also been announced for Vita. ZombiU didn't do too good and good third-party games are coming to the rival consoles too. Is it really true that Ubisoft appreciates the Wii U or are they asks sacking it?
