Well, they're of better quality now, so I'm confused. The only games I expected to be out pretty fast were Pikmin 3 and Rayman Legends. There wasn't anything announced besides those, unless I'm missing something...

@Scar392 He was saying that Nintendo should have prepared their quality titles to be ready for the Wii U's launch rather than those titles being released during towards the end of the year and 2014.

Meh. I still don't understand. Since Wii U had a slow beginning, now it has quantity AND quality at a later time.
Nintendo is most likely still meeting their time frame for these games as a business. Not too early, not to late.
The attitude people have had towards Wii U is the same attitude I've had for years regarding Apple products, and just the past year for PS3.

We also knew about WIi Fit, Game and Wario, and Wondeful 101.

The problem isn't that the games weren't there at launch but every game with the expection of two fell out of the launch window and into the Launch year titles. Also by comparasion it makes nintendo look like a Joke comapred to the other HD guys.

Wii U Launch
Nintendoland
New Super Mario Bros U
ZombiU

Not a bad launch line up but not that diverse and nothing that shows nintendo's commitment to online gaming. (there's only three exclusives with a multplayer online component,)

Xbox One launch lineup
Ryse
Dead Rising 3
Killer Instinct
Zoo Tycoon
Lococycle
Forza Motorsport 5

Playstation 4 launch line up
Knack
DriveClub
Killzone Shadowfall
DC Universe Online
Planetside 2

Also it helps that sony and microsoft have been vauge about the launch year, All we know is that there will be 20 games in Launch year of PS4 with 12 of them being new IP. There's going to be 15 games in the PS4 launch year with eight being new IP. Let's look at nintendo's exclusive launch year.

1.New Super Mario Bros U
2.Nintendoland
3.ZombiU
4.Monster Hunter Tri Ultimate
5.Lego CIty Undercover
6.Game and Wario
7.Pikmin 3
8.The Wonderful 101
9.The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD
10. WIi U Party
11.Sonic : Lost World
12.Donkey Kong County Returns
13.Mario and Sonic : At the Olympics 2014

thirteen games and three new IP. (arguable four but Lego City probably doesn't count.)

I understand, but does it really matter that Nintendo has those games out before their competition?
For all we know, like Nintendo has said, and what helped kill the Dreamcast, is that releasing all those games super fast would make less people buy the console over a period of time.
You can't really advertise over 5 games at once, and can instead dedicate more advertising for each individual release.
Nintendo has also said that they keep their mouths shut until close to release dates so that competitors don't take their ideas.

PS4 and Xbox One come out later this year, so it doesn't really matter what Nintendo does with the Wii U in a consumer environment until closer to that time frame, from a competitive standpoint.

You usually advertise through montages during console launches. But I'm not saying all these titles had to be their at launch but keeping the in the launch window would have helped the Wii U immensely.

My ideal WIi U launch featuring the known titles would have been

NintendoLand (Leaderboards through miiverse)
New Super Mario Bros U
Zombi U (Putting Online co-op and campaign missions into the game would have helped immensly.)
Pikmin 3
The Game and Wario games pre installed on the System like the 3DS AR Games.

What really sucks for Nintendo is that they can't seem to do anything to please 3rd party developers. When they launch with several of their key titles, 3rd parties gripe that no one buys their games because they can't compete with Mario, Zelda, etc. Then, when Nintendo doesn't launch with much, 3rd parties drop the ball and release low quality, late ports. Now Nintendo has an install base problem. What exactly are they supposed to do to make 3rd parties happy?

Yeah, but maybe you can settle for playing mature Wii games that already exist. Stuff like Resident Evil, House of the Dead, Madworld. Things you seem to be craving.

What, when you're an "adult", all of the sudden your games need to be M to be fun? That's not true or fair. Take the Batman Arkham series. Rated T for Teen, yet very popular among adults because they are genuinely good games. And to be honest, adults aren't necessarily the ones going for the M rated games at all. I know way more kids and early teens that only play M rated games because they think it makes them cool than adults who only play M games. In fact, I've generally met adults that prefer family games like Mario or Zelda simply because they are fun and engrossing games.

The Irony of the statement is that you must be an adult to see that. Such "adult" or rather M rated games i would say are in no way targeted towards those who can actually purchase it. Once your an adult gamer, your focus turns to whats fun or not and such labels as things being "adult" do not matter.

Dont get me wrong, i like mature games. But what i really like is fun games, and if they happen to be mature ones so be it. Speaking of mature games, i would love to see The Evil Within work its way over to Wii U, but bethesda doesnt like Wii U.

I think a major problem nintendo faces is that they have seemingly let the 20-30 year old gamer for thoses either in the kid market or the 30 and up guys.

My biggest problem is that as 21 year old Gamer I feel that Nintendo hasn't addressed anything besides PIkmin and X that really target me. Nintendo played off of Nostalgia heavily talking up how Super Mario 3D world was taking concepts people wanted from Super Mario Bros 2 back in the form of multiplayer, or the DOnkey Kong Country series. The problem I have with that is I didn't grow up with the Third or Fourth gen and besides a few games my connection just isn't there. My first consoles were the N64/PS1 and those plus the PS2/Gamecube generations had the biggest impact on me and my gaming tastes. So its sad seeing no one really pushing those types of games. Plus I think Sony's Marketing talks to me and feels the most genuine of the three. (nintendo;s is as well but they're targeting another audience.)

Nintendo needs to give the Wii U a price cut and the best Wii U game to bundle it with this holiday season. I'm not sure what game that would be, though... definitely not Nintendo Land or New Super Mario Bros. U. I mean, I like those games, but I don't think that will give people the best motivation to buy the system.

I think they could bundle a new big game this holiday(around November), but I wouldn't count on a price drop. Whatever game it could be is a bigger question, because they would have to sell Wii Fit boards or Wii remote+ bundles for the Sports/Fit U, and that might not be so good to put on people.

EDIT: I already have that stuff, but it costs alot of money if you want to get 4 people playing, and the Wii Fit board can be expensive in those bundles. If they can determine how many people have the Wii Fit Board, they will know how many people don't have it, and they can possibly sell the game by itself.

Maybe having Wii Sports U pre-installed and including a Wii remote+ would be a good deal for $350. If the price of the hardware does decrease by $50 near the end of the year, it would make more sense to just throw more stuff in the box and ask the already established price.

Selling the console at a loss is not an option according to Nintendo. It's really anyone's guess what they will do, especially with digital sales being more viable than ever to get more product inti homes.

Technology gets cheaper over time. Thus, Wii U's are likely less expensive to manufacture than they were a year ago. Not by much, but I think hopefully enough that they could at least drop the price some. PS4 being $400 makes it that much more enticing to people that would otherwise buy a Wii U. If it's only $100 more and has better tech inside a lot of people are just going to get a ps4 instead. If the Wii U is more than $100 cheaper than the ps4 that would help.

...It's unbelievable that the Wii U will have been out for a year and still hasn't gotten a killer app...

Ya, but people actually like the Wii remote+ and GamePad. When people see these controllers side by side, I'm pretty sure most would choose the GamePad by instinct.

People want to use the Wii Wheel. People like having the inventory and such on their controller.

The Wii U is pretty graphically capable. You don't always need to compare numbers, and the numbers that are there don't always tell what's going on in a machine.
I would not be surprised at all if Wii U got the PS4 version on Destiny or GTA V, one bit. According to Official Nintendo Magazine of Europe, Wii U is getting the exact same COD Ghosts game as Xbox One and PS4, besides the GamePad features of course, which come standard with Wii U.
You need a tablet or a Vita to do that stuff on other consoles, and Xbox doesn't even have any way to have a tablet with real buttons.

The appeal of Wii U is there, and it arguably has the best controller of 8th generation.

I am an adult, and I think Driving Simulation and Sci-Fi open world shooters are painfully boring and immature.

You're just buying into the narrative that EA, Ubisoft, Activision, Sony, and Microsoft, et al. have written for you if you think those two genres constitute 'adult', 'hardcore', and 'mature' gaming....To me, Pikmin 3 is what i'm excited for....Because, its unique, weird and incredibly beautiful to watch in action. It actually requires some amount of strategy and brainpower unlike say Halo or Forza for instance..

If Nintendo abandons everything it's stood for ---- fun, gamey experiences that can be enjoyed by everyone ---- and starts making high tech hardware, and pandering to adolescent male 'power fantasies' (to quote Warren Spector) by creating copypaste military shooters, heroic sci-fi action adventure games, and super- car driving sims, then there ceases to be any sort of differentiation in the console gaming space..

Nintendo fills a niche for people who aren't impressed with games that use ultra violence as a gameplay mechanic crutch, who aren't impressed with ultra realistic graphics, physics and cinematic, Hollywood-esque stories....who prefer having fun and more pure gamplay experiences..

Are those really the launch titles for the new systems? I already play Planetside 2 on my PC, and the only other game there that really interests me is Knack (for PS4). I don't even see anything on the Xbox side that I would want, except perhaps Ryse, but that's the kind of game where I really want to see lots of impressions and reviews before making a decision. Kind of disappointed on that front...
