^^I hated the changes they made in Other M, but that doesn't make me want a new Metroid game any less.
I really want Retro Studios to take back control of the series. The Prime games weren't my favorites, but Retro at least understood how important atmosphere and exploration are.
I was talking to a friend, and thought that since Retro has made both Metroid and Donkey Kong Country, then the next logical step would be to go back to Metroid, but in 2D. I think they could pull it off, and could be interesting.
But to be honest I still would like Retro to try their hands on a new IP.
I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.
Why does Retro need to be tied to one series? I think they've very well demonstrated that they have a knack for giving a fresh taste on old Nintendo series. Nintendo's backlog of quality, unused IPs has grown to the point where it just seems silly to me that they would make four Metroid games.
as long as there are big places to explore with a eerie somewhat creepy but not quite horror atmosphere and interesting hidden stuff to find I'm fine with either 2D, 3D, First Person, Third person or whatever they decide it'll be.
goodbyes are a sad part of life but for every end there's a new beggining so one must never stop looking forward to the next dawn

I love the Metroid series, so I am excited to see where they are taking it. i will be glad to see 2D, or First person 3D, or like Other M after ironing out they flaws. Lots of potential and can't wait to see how this goes.
