The beginning of the game takes all of 20 minutes. People whinge about the pacing but in addition to having the tutorial elements - which are there for people who haven't played a Zelda game before - it really emphasises Link's village life and how nice and peaceful things are for him and his friends. It's a place where the biggest problem is a crib being stolen by a monkey or a cat running off round the corner to bother some fish. Contrast with when their lives are turned upside down by having their children kidnapped. It raises the stakes. Twilight Princess is a thematically dense game, rich in metaphor and plays on the contrast between light and shadow. Nintendo could add a "skip the first chunk of the game" feature but I think it would be a shame.

It's unfair to call it a "brown game" there's lots of colour throughout but it is muted in places. I think an HD remake will do a lot to clean the visuals up as playing the SD original on an HD screen doesn't show it off to its full potential. I originally played the Gamecube version on a CRT via RGB and it was lovely. That said I think the game does have a deliberately muted art style , which I interpreted as emphasising that Hyrule is dying. Wind Waker was a world seen through the eyes of a child. Twilight Princess is not.

I'm not convinced that a HD remaster is happening yet but if it does I don't think there's much that needs doing. I'd like to see a Hero Mode

A better game that fixes the pace of the first 10 hours

I slightly agree but I feel the only part after the pre-Midna section that was too slow was the 2nd Twilight bug hunt thing (and even then, it wasn't THAT bad imo).

And after Skyward Sword, Twilight Princess's pacing is amazing by comparison.

I wouldn't mind this because I LOOOOVED Twilight Princess but Nintendo needs to not be Capcom, aka the company that only re-releases their old games anymore.

Street Fighter V says hi. A game destined to get incredibly high sales.

I think the main thing Twilight Princess HD would need to do is use the GC version as the foundations rather than the Wii version. Death to motion controls, please! (they're already doing it with tennis)

Not if you play the Wii version where the stilted motion controls trap you in a fishing sequence that seems to last for an eternity.

Seriously, if you're going to keep the motion controls, kill that sequence entirely. The intro will be 100x better for it.

I agree, the beginning is really slow. Mostly the light bug search. I though the motion controls were good, but they should give us options for motion controls or conventional controls. Also give a left handed option for left handed people.

Aww man, I wanted to start this thread so I could delete it and make another one when to it went to $#¡t. Seeing as that could happen any minute, i will get to the point.

Twilight Princess is too drab (no place is that brown except Gotham in Batman Begins) but this is fairly jarring. Link could just look like that to fit in with everyone else in that image but comparing it to the Wind Waker renders, it seems that is what he will look like. Onto things I'd like to see improved or added:
1) Speed up the beginning - While I don't have a problem with it and find a Majora's Mask fanboy complaining about how slow it is laughable, it could be streamlined. The tear collecting could be sped up as well but there are narrative implications to some of them so that might not be possible.
2) Give items a purpose - Like half the items in this game are pointless outside their respective dungeon (don't give me the "progression" argument because that is stupid and you should feel bad for saying it). Add some more secret areas to put them to use or something. They should also make the magic armor function like the armor in The Wind Waker HD; it is barely usable outside the Cave or Ordeals and you still have to switch in and out of it there.
3) Don't tell me what a rupee is worth after the getting my first of each type.
4) More difficulty - I'm not just talking about adding a hero mode, the game is way too easy because enemies can barely hurt you. If I remember correctly, Ganondorf only does a quarter-heart per attack which is a joke.
5) Boss rush - Twilight Princess has some of the best bosses ever and it would be awesome to fight them again.
6) Fix Ganon's hijacking - After defeating Zant and learning Ganondorf was the final boss, I was expecting another group of dungeons but instead the final dungeon was sloppily tacked on. Extra dungeons probably aren't going to be added but I'm hoping they can figure something out so Ganondorf doesn't feel shoehorned in.
7) Let us switch between forms w/o talking to Midna - Midna is great but we should be able to change forms on the fly.

There are probably other things that could be improved but this is what I thought of off the top of my head.

I fully support this. Some of the sword movements are just awkward when you're a southpaw.

The only thing I recall being slow in the beginning was the fishing. Otherwise, it doesn't really bother me, as I'm in agreement that all the little things/tutorials in the beginning help to flesh out the village lifestyle as well as Link's relationships with the children.

And then that simple peace is shattered....

As much as I love the game I'm not sure if I can agree. It's the one thing about it that lets it down. I get that it's about the contrast between village life and the danger that comes after it but it just drags on for way too long. It's not like it's the only Zelda game to do that either, they all do it. I'd go as far as saying that most of the other Zeldas even do it better than Twilight Princess did.

When did I ever say I was hyped? The only remake I was ever hyped about was Majora's Mask 3D and that's because it is my favorite.

@Blast: Street Fighter V is being funded by Sony. Right now Ace Attorney is pretty much the only series Capcom can afford to put new games out for on their own. I believe Nintendo helps out with Monster Hunter, although that might just be in the west.

Is the colour brown in HD different than the colour brown in SD then?

The textures will be less fuzzy, so yes.

Dude, Ganondorf was established to be active since the Arbiter's grounds—half way through the game. Pick up on those plot cues.

The wolf and human forms aren't programmed / animated to have Link switch mid combo or anything.

It already is. All they did was add waggle w/ pointer controls, mirror the game, and change one room in the Death Mountain dungeon; for the Wii version. Besides, adding motion controls as another option will hurt no one, and gives people a reason to play with motion controls. That's why I was giving Sony such a hard time for not having PS Move in their games where it made sense, because it makes the controllers look useless when people still care about said controls. That's why I won't care about Mario Tennis on Wii U, because motion controls need to be there for people who care.

They basically could have made Wii Sports Club tennis look like a demo if they cared to properly implement motion + into Mario Tennis, and that just further shows how all over the place these companies are when in comes to features that they say they will support. Even waggle like in the New Play option Mario Tennis for Wii would have been welcome as an option over strictly traditional controls. There is absolutely no reason to refuse more options if they make sense and can possibly matter.

Personally I first experienced the game with the Wii controls, and that's the way I prefer to play it. So having both options would be nice.

I wouldn't mind the lack of wiimote support if they add gamepad aiming though.

Using the wiimote was the only way I've ever played Twilight Princess. That being said, I most certainly do NOT prefer it that way.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

@SCAR: The issue I have is the mirroring though and that can only be fixed by removing the motion controls and hence using the GC version as a basis rather than Wii version. The mirroring was done solely because they wanted Link to be right handed to make the motion controls more realistic and hence the only easy way to program everything with right handed features was to apply a reflection to the whole GC code. .

"The beginning" is an undefined period. I'd define the beginning by how long it takes to get onto the world map. Which in Twilight Princess is longer than pretty much every Zelda game.

It shouldn't be that difficult. Besides, if they aren't willing to put in enough effort to make it a solid remake, then that's why they shouldn't do it.

Wind Waker HD is a different story, because the graphics were more simple, and it didn't haven't motion controls in the first place. Twilight Princess and Mario Tennis on Wii had at least waggle, which is why there shouldn't be any less.

@Dezzy: I reckon that's a harder goalpost to define in Twilight Princess as before getting to Hyrule Field there is a rather substantial dungeon to complete which I think definitely forms part of the meat of the game. It's not like Ocarina where the Deku Tree was the tutorial. The tutorial section in Ordon village that people seem to get their knickers in a twist over is not very long at all. How would they shorten what occurs before going to Hyrule Field without negatively impacting the narrative integrity of the game?
