Was wondering what our thoughts on Tvii was since there hasn't been alot of talk about it on the site. (honestly suprised there hasn't been a talking point about it. Nintendo seems to be doing something really cool here and is in some ways beating others who have been trying to go this route all along to the smart,

This could be a big selling factor for nintendo going into this holiday season.

But on the other hand you never know when apple is going to get serious with the apple Tv. That and with a new xbox as well as a revised nexus Q on the horizon could make this point moot, since any TV functions they would have would outpace the Wii U. That and as far as content providers the Wii U is the weaskest of them all only currently boasting.

Netflix
Hulu
Amazon on demand
Tivo
Live TV (depending on your cable company)

So it's basically just a Nintendo version of an Apple TV except it streams to the gamepad?

I don't know much about it, but it seems promising. I'm not currently subscribed to Netflix or anything though, so I'm not too sure what the capabilities of TVii are that I would find useful. I guess it depends on how much of it is subscription based.

Additionally, I live in Canada, and I must say that the selection of shows and movies on Netflix is not too great at all. A few of my friends pay for it so I watch stuff with them occasionally. And none of it is in HD. We don't get Hulu either.

It'll just be a Netflix client for us. It won't work with our Comcast Motorola DVR so all those fancy cable and DVR features are completely useless to us.

Put your analyst on danger money, baby.

I know some people who mainly bought a Wii just to play Netflix, but TVii is no system seller for me. I'd rather play games.

...in my pants.

Nah.

I use an Xbox and xbox music TV.

If your already in an estblashed ecosystem of course this won't entice you into another. Even moreso that Nintendo is offering there own store and is dependent on thrid party offerings.

Still I find the actual guide functions pretty cool and not having an equalvlient anywhere else. The Xbox does something similar but its only regarding the search functions.

Well, that's kinda my point - given that there are no less than three full-featured ecosystems already in operation (Apple + iTunes, Microsoft + Xbox TV, Sony + SEN), just how many people are going to be willing to either change over to a less-featured ecosystem (Nintendo has no non-game content of its own, remember, nor Cloud services, nor a device infrastructure to support this network across multiple platforms)? And how many people are realistically not involved in any existing ecosystem?

The potential market for WiiTV to actually be worth buying into is almost non-existent. Most people that would want it already have something better somewhere else.

Here's another Tvii preview

Also here's twoxbox smartglass preview videos from E3 for comparasion. The first one from E3 and the other one is more recent but kind of limiting as its still beta software. (That and I'm ecpecting other features to be held off intill build)
