I am new to the Wii-U console and have a basic question. Is it possible to disable the Gamepad screen when playing games or using applications on the Wii-U when only the television is needed?
Yes, you can turn off the Gamepad display through Home menu. Press the Home button on the Gamepad, then go to controller settings, and finally choose display off under Gamepad settings.
Note that some games or parts of the game require the use of the Gamepad. Keep that in mind.
