Topic: Transfer saves between Wii game in Wii mode to Wii U eShop version

I can't seem to get this search right because I only get how to transfer everything from a Wii to a Wii U. I want to transfer a save game data from a Wii game in the Wii mode on the Wii U to an eshop Wii title within the Wii U. What I really want to do is transfer my Xenoblade Chronicles save from the Wii mode to the eShop copy, should I choose to buy it and if it is available in the US.

Second part of that question is if it would be worth it? Do Wii titles played on the Wii U bought frome the eShop look better or the same than Wii games in the Wii mode on the Wii U?

You can't do it.

Games do not look better.

Not tried that game but games I have bought in the eshop that I had Wii saved data on the Wii mode automatically picked up that data when I launch the eshop version. Super Mario Galaxy 2 definitely did this.

Game is identical though, I'd only buy it if having a digital version of the game is of value to you.

This is a different behavior than other virtual console games.

Are digital Wii games not considered virtual console? I guess they really aren't....no controller options or save states.

I guess if your virtual Wii has full memory you have to go in to your vWii to clear space for your digital Wii game save.

Does that mean I can use the Wii U Pro Controller instead of remote and classic controller? If so, might be worth it. XBC sells for a good price on ebay (except for one guy trying to get $199.99 for it).

Some Wii U games do support remote/classic controller (pro) in addition to the Wii U pro controller.

For playing Wii games and Wii Ware and Wii VC games you have to enter in to virtual Wii mode and the Wii U pro controller will not work.

I don't know if you can use the Pro Controller, I wouldn't be that surprised if they patch that in down the road. But you can use the GamePad and it does support off-TV play. Every Wii game released on the eShop that supported the classic controller has full off-TV play with the GamePad. It's one of the main advantages of the downloaded version over the disk. They can't patch or modify Wii games if they're on a disk. The Wii simply wasn't built with that in mind. They can however modify code that you download.

Of course the main advantage is the faster load times. The fact that you don't have to get the disk. The fact that it's cheaper than the disk, especially for a game like Xenoblade. Also if you purchase it on the eShop they know you've purchased it. There's a possibility they might use that information down the road. Actually, they are using that information in Europe where you get a discount from the Xenoblade Chronicles X if you download the Wii version.
