Mmm yeah. Touch is certainly great for playing, but if it's an uncomfortable situation (which it frequently is), then what's the point.

ok I rank aiming controls like this:

  • Pointer(perfect)
  • Mouse(the next best thing)
  • Movement(sweet but has too little scenarios where it works)
  • Touch(really precise, not too comfortable)
  • Analog sticks(either too slow or too imprecise can't ever find a good balance)
  • D-pad(can't believe no one listed this, it still exists even though all the other options are better)

No. Touch controls are awful. If you want to contantly have to stop and lift up your hand get it to the other side of the screen in the middle of aiming, you may as well use a freaking mouse. And before you say "adjustable controls" if you had adjustable controls, you wouldn't need Touch screen aiming, you could just adjust the dual stick controls to your needs (like you can do in every FPS made in the last 5 years, you lazy SoB's).

No matter how adjustable dual sticks can be, mouse will always be better. It is just better at translating movements, be they precise or huge, quick or slow. And this applies to touch and pointer as well.

And if you adjust the controls right, dual analogue controls can be all that and more.

Except they absolutely cannot. A thumb stick has a tiny range of movement compared to a mouse. It cannot have both the precision and speed a mouse can.

Have you used a mouse for aiming? The thumb stick will move an inch to the left and then you have to wait for the cursor to reach where you want it. On a mouse you can go a lot further than one inch.

I think it would be nice to have as an option, but I would still prefer Wii remote or dual analog. I have 0 experience with mouse, so I won't comment about that.

So turn up the sensitivity. Problem solved, end of story, done.

The analog stick doesn't have have s*** on the Wii remote and nuchuck, as far as Pikmin 3 goes. That's what I think.

Most games won't let me turn up the sensitivity enough.

Different inputs work best for different types of games. I haven't experienced a FPS where touch screen was a preferred input. I do like how Kid Icarus used the touch aiming

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

canis buddy i think you need to take a chill pill bud...everyone else has been having a friendly conversation about various control methods ,and you seem to be lashing out at everyone who doesn't agree with you.

You are entitled to your opinion man ,but just because others don't agree with you. I didn't create this thread to throw tempers around i created it to bring up an interesting topic.

Then they're bad games, don't play them.

  • Analog Sticks (They're more comfortable for me.)
  • Wii Pointer (Feels great and usually really responsive. In my current place of living though, my area's too cramped for such play.)
  • Mouse (I plug in a 360 controller whenever I play PC games and I'm trying to perfect using the Classic Controller with League of Legends using the GlovePIE program.)
  • Touch Screen (It's a good workaround, as @skywake has already said, but if the option is available for a more comfortable control scheme, such as face-button aiming or Circle Pad Pro support, I'll likely use that.)

In theory, touch controls would be more accurate and quicker than the analog stick. It would be closer to PC aiming. It worked well in Metroid Prime: Hunters on the DS, so it could work on the Wii U. Analog sticks work fine though so it doesn't really matter, I guess

Call of Duty is (surprisingly) one of the few first-person shooters that really nailed down tight controls for console controllers, so I would have no problem playing a game like that (besides the fact that it's CoD) with analog sticks at all. Most other FPS's feel more sluggish and less responsive when it comes to aiming (especially shooters with low sensitivities), so having touch screen controls could potentially be very beneficial for games like these

And also lol @ people who play FPS's with a Wii remote

Why the lol? The mote is quite accurate and it feels very natural to aim a gun in a game by pointing something in your hand.

It depends on the game, but in general I'd imagine analogue sticks being better, except for something like Kid Icarus: Uprising where dual sticks (or Circle Pads in this case) just wouldn't have ever worked well.
It'd be a lot more awkward using touch screen aiming on the GamePad than the 3DS/3DS XL (which is really comfortable and easy to hold/use, I don't know understand why so many think otherwise) though, so I don't see it working too well on the Wii U.

It works well, I have to admit, but it's the least responsive out of other control types (mouse, analog sticks, touch) in my opinion, mostly because turning around is annoying with a wiimote

But it really just comes down to individual preference

Point aiming wouldn't work in fast paced combat. If someone go around you and is using both sticks or a wii mote they are at a terrible disadvantage..plus the fact that most people dislike touch aiming.
