I’m pretty stocked that Slightly Mad Studios decided to stick with the Wii U and bring out a copy of Project CARS. Nintendo needs more games of its ilk.

eShop has 198 entries- granted a few are Netflix, Amazon, Youtube and a few others that don't really count as games.....but it's more than 126- unless you mean Wii U only. There are a fair amount of retro console type games.

That said, I have about 35 games or so- 26 retail and I am having problems keeping up with what I have. ACIV is down to $30 on Amazon- a reasonable price but I haven't even finished ACIII. Splinter Cell sounds cool and is also reduced, but I haven't even opened Deus Ex that I got for Christmas. And there's about a dozen titles coming out this year that look really cool, Hyrule Warriors, Donkey Kong, Project Cars, X, Bayonetta, Smash Bros., Mario Kart, Watch Dog, Shinen's racing game.

I'm not disappointed, but I guess I'm not as big of a gamer as some are (in spite of my collection- most of them were purchased at reduced prices).

I'm guessing these figures came from wikipedia. The Wii U games lists (of which this 216 come from) includes many games that are not yet released (especially on the download-only side). There are only 92 retail games available. As far as downloadable games, that only accounts for another 34 - so a total of 126 which is a much smaller number than 216.

I was really only talking about retail games though. I typically find that downloadable-only games (with a few exceptions) tend to have much less content. Not to say they aren't fun, but they tend to be much simpler graphically, and aren't representative of what the Wii U is capable of. I also find that I only get about 5-10 hours of gameplay out of a downloadable title whereas I get about 30-40 out of a retail game, with some games like AC3 offering a lot more than that.

I'm assuming that PS4 number also counts a lot of PSN games and ones that haven't been released. The PS4 only has like 25-30 retail titles out right now - nowhere near 174.

I appreciate your feedback and will certainly give Monster Hunter a much closer look. It does seem to have a lot of solid reviews. Is it a good game to play solo? I don't have friends that have a Wii U so local multi-player isn't really an option.

It's good for solo and multiplay. You also get online with the wii u version, so not having friends is a non-issue.

Solo is great! I actually played my first 40-50 hours in single player mode because I was literally scared to play online (I tried one time just starting out and had no idea what I was doing at the port and sat there for like 30 minutes while they left on a quest without me because I didn't join because I didn't know how. It was just a mess). It's later when I started playing online that I really got hooked (If 50 hours isn't hooked enough). Everyone was real great and helped me through the basics of online play. And if you do get it, I'm sure there are lots of NL users (me included) who would be happy to play online with you and show you the basics (because it kind of starts off slow).

This is a fair point although it's worth noting the number of games we got in the last few months that we didn't know about at the start of 2013. The Wind Waker HD and Super Mario 3D World being the two big ones. I wouldn't count on it and I wouldn't factor it into an immediate purchasing decision but don't be shocked if we get games in September to December 2014 we haven't heard about yet.

I'll grant you Wind Waker HD was a surprise although it was announced right around a year ago rather than being a last minute one.

But we essentially knew that a 3D Mario platformer was due relatively soon back then due to statements well before launch that both 2D & 3D entries for the franchise were in production concurrently and it was officially confirmed in the same Nintendo Direct last January as Wind Waker was. So the better part of a year from that point until release and widely believed before unveiling to likely be their major Fall 2013 release.

I wasn't saying they were last minute, I was saying we only knew about those titles that were late 2013 titles in early 2013. Around this time last year we didn't yet know about Wind Waker HD, Super Mario 3D World, A Link Between Worlds and Pokemon X/Y. Suspicions, educated guesses and theories around those titles or not, they were not confirmed. That's the vast bulk of Nintendo's content for last year unknown in early January 2013. So while I wouldn't count on it necessarily I don't think it's out of the question for us to get major titles late this year that are not yet confirmed.

As for suspicions, we all know what titles are on the table whether or not they come this year. That other game Retro is working on that the press aren't allowed to ask about. The other stuffs their other second party devs are working on. The thing that the Mario Kart guys are going to help out with now that Mario Kart is basically ready to go. Animal Crossing on Wii U anyone? Lots of stuffs on the table.

Isn't that what Mario 3D World was for 2013?

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

But 3D World wasn't that interesting until they showed more footage later and we knew a 3D Mario was coming for a while (granted, we would probably know regardless but they flat out said it was gonna be shown at E3 months earlier). So basically I don't want to hear anything about the new Zelda until E3. Not a word.

I'm not disappointed with the amount of games and the content they have. I probably wouldn't have bought any of the games I have on my Wii U, if I didn't have a Wii U.

I feel more comfortable buying games on a new system, than a 7-8 year old system, so that's why I bought alot of games for Wii U.

Sonic Racing, CoD, Injustice, Tekken, etc. are on last gen systems, but that's not really a reason to avoid buying said software. Injustice came out in May, IIRC. It's still a new game, even if it's based on outdated hardware.

Mega Man 9-10 could have been on NES, and they're still new games.

EDIT: Also, NSMB.U is often called a "rehash", or cited as a poor example of software support. They probably just figure that if you liked the Mario from 1985, you'd like the Mario from 2012. It's that simple.

They outlined pretty much everything that was going to be at E3 before E3. We knew we'd be getting a 3D Mario, Mario Kart and Smash Bros back in January.

Pikmin 3
Game and Wario
NSLU
NBA2K13
Lego City: Undercover
NFS: Most Wanted U (Must Have if you like racing games)
Injustice
Bit trip Runner 2
Ninja Gaiden 3
ZombieU
Arkham City: armored edition
Wii Sports Club
Arkham Origins
Tekken Tag tournament
Sonic All stars racing transformed
And a bunch of Virtual Console titles

You're correct in that I haven't necessarily played a ton of games, but I have researched many of them, read reviews, played similar games in the past, and have made informed decisions to date about what to buy. Games are expensive, so I can't just go out on a whim and pick up a dozen $60 games. Rayman Legends really should be on my list, so that's a good suggestion and one I should pick up. As for some of the others, I strongly dislike anything that has to do with the superhero genre. I've tried games in the past, and never liked them. I never enjoy superhero movies either, I don't know why - just not my thing.

Pikmin 3 I have read lots of good things about, but my experience with Pikmin in Nintendo Land was a big turn off. It was just a game to see how fast you could tap the screen. If that's reflective of the Pikmin game at all, well... that's just too bad. All of the Lego games I've purchased in the past end up collecting dust, so I'm staying away from those from now on. Wii Sports Club - too close to Wii sports which I've played enough of on my Wii for a lifetime, ZombiU looks dreadful, Bit Trip Runner 2 looks like it could be fun, maybe I'll download that one.

How does NFS work without analog triggers? I sort of wrote it off because of that. Deus Ex looks like it might be decent too. You definitely gave me some suggestions and I appreciate that. But I still think the support level for this console is less than previous Nintendo console, and wish everyone would step up their game.

The Nintendo Land "demo" of Pikmin really isn't representative of Pikmin 3. In the Nintendo Land demo you're more or less just running through a level and attacking and trying to survive, while Pikmin 3 is all about strategy and planning, and figuring out the level. I would think of the nintendo land demo as "an action game with a pikmin theme" rather than a representation of what Pikmin is really about. Watch some videos online or something.

For those of you, which seems to be a lot, that are way too comfortable with WiiU's Offerings.

Games that will Miss or Already have Missed the WiiU.
1. Crysis 3
2. Mass Effect Trilogy (1, 2, and 3 Complete with DLC)
3. Metro Last Light
4. Tomb Raider (PS4 and Xbox One are even getting this game)
5. Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2

Lots of these actually saw releases in 2013, The Year that the WiiU should have gotten the biggest lead over PS4 and Xbox One considering it released in 2012. The beginning of the next generation is seeing a lot of Cross Gen Ports between Xbox One and PS4, Games that should be able to run on the WiiU, but it's getting ignored and the age old question of Why comes up and the answer many come up with is "It's not Profitable enough." and if we do get a 3rd Party offering it's usually gimped!
No Multiplayer for Batman, No Local Co-Op for Splinter Cell, No DLC for Call of Duty, and sometimes The Game is has no DLC or Multiplayer on it even though the game has been out for more than 2 years (Sniper Elite V2).

and yet many of you are just so comfortable with this. This is not something we should be comfortable with. Especially with games like Soul Calibur 2 and Tales of Symphonia, those are games that APPEARED on Nintendo Consoles! Gamecube and Wii had the Symphonia games First! I'd love to play HD versions on my WiiU. Soul Calibur 2? WHO DOESN'T REMEMBER LINK?? Freakin' I'd play that sucker and the WiiU has little to no Fighting anyway so it's a win win!

I don't see how this is acceptable. If this was any other console there would be an outcry.

From my quick check on VGChartz I can say that 48 games* have been released on the Wii U in 2013, whereas in 2013 alone the PS3 has gotten 171 games*.
*all figures taken from how many times the years 2013 was used one the site, so sports games are counted twice. All numbers are approximations

An outcry won't solve anything. Nintendo can't force 3rd parties to release their games for Wii U. If it starts to sell, they will come. If it doesn't sell, they won't.
