Topic: Titles announced after launch window?

The title says it all. Does anyone know if anything has been announced for release on the Wii U for after the "launch window"? The titles coming out in the next few months are mostly ports shoveled quickly over from PS3 and 360; since the developers didn't take the Wii U hardware's strengths into account we're seeing frame rate issues among other problems. But then I'm stating the obvious. What I'm hoping to see are games developed from the ground up for the system. Perhaps that's too much to ask at this stage as developers want to see a critical mass of installed base so that their games can be profitable. Multiplatform games optimized for the Wii U that actually look better than their last gen brethren would be a nice first step, however.
Anywayz... I can't find any announcements online. Does anyone have the inside track?

I think Bayonetta 2 is after launch window, so is SSB4. Other than that, nothing.

That's a little bit concerning... It seems everyone is playing wait and see on how the sales go this holiday season and they'll make their decision whether to develop new titles after that. It might leave a sizable gap in the release schedule. I can just imagine the criticism. "See? No one's developing for the Wii U therefore no one should buy one..."

Games have very long development cycles these days so you can be guaranteed there are a whole pile of games in the works. First party content in particular you can be pretty much 100% certain that they're already working on the next Zelda and 3D Mario. Skyward Sword, which was scaled back from their original vision, started to be developed in 2008 and launched in 2011. Work on Super Mario Galaxy started in 2004 and the game launched in 2007. So a good three years from idea to completion for those sort of titles.

So if we assume a three year development lifecycle and say that work on the next big Mario and Zelda started when the last ones finished... expect Mario next year and Zelda the year after. Third party content? Any of the stuff that's comming next year could appear on the Wii U very easily. WatchDogs, BioShock Infinite and so on. Infact expect a few of those titles. I don't think there's too much to worry about.

A 3D Mario is in development I believe(only 1 NSMB per console), an HD Zelda in 2014, Super Smash Bros 4(for Wii U and 3DS) maybe "Miyamoto's Secret Project(it could be for 3DS or Wii U) and a possible Yoshi's Island.

I am certain games are in the works, but the past couple years Nintendo hasn't been revealing them incredibly ahead of time (other than big title games like Skyward Sword). I suspect around February we'll know titles coming in Spring, they're pretty busy ironing out launch bugs, preparing TVii, finishing Pikmin 3, and hopefully getting a Wii U VC ready. Rest assured, I'm certain they're working on quite a few games, Reggie even said they still have some surprises for the launch window.

This unless they surprise us with Bayonetta 2 before, but also what about wonderful 101? Is that before or after?

It's during the launch window (at least in the US) so it's most likely releasing before B2, if that's what you are asking.

Chances are a new 3D Mario is being made, we STILL don't know what Retro is up to either. And of course the 3rd parties, and Skywake pretty much said it already. There are games coming after the window, just because they weren't announced doesn't mean they don't exist.

I think that big third party developers are indeed waiting for some numbers and statistics before deciding wether to port/develop for Wii U or not, but I don't think that there will be too big of a gap in releases if Nintendo plays it's "Indy Developers on eShop" card wisely. Like I posted in my other thread I do believe "next gen" is about content and ideas in games and not so much about big fat multi-console titles that are just a rehash of what has been done already just in a prettier packaging.

Top 5 Indies I'd recommend you try: #1 Lovecraft's Untold Stories, #2 Moonlighter, #3 Hotline Miami, #4 Inside, #5 Into the Breach.

Oh the thing Im worried about most is FIRST party titles taking too long to carry the Wii U through the next year. A Zelda here or some new 3D Mario there would definitely help boosting the install base to be ready by the end of 2013 for the impact Sony and MS might have.
