My first WiiU was/is a dud but my warranty is well out (I got WiiU at launch). Worked for a while. Randomly turns on still but way too unreliable. So I'm planning to get my second WiiU with the WiiU + MarioKart bundle. Has anyone else switched WiiU's and can you transfer a NintendoNetworkID if the WiiU it is registered to won't turn on? I want to keep my NintendoID because it is also the same for my 3DS

Well I would call Nintendo any ways I've heard them fixing things outside of the warranty. They have great support.

Ya, you're better off getting it repaired. It takes about 2 weeks for them to get your console and ship it back, but you'll save money and won't have to deal with a transfer process.

Well with stores clearing their wii u stock completely every now and then at least here in the UK, I can see how some might end up with more than one especially since they can go for half price or less brand new, still haven't even felt compelled to get one at half price yet myself, most likely get one when zelda U and X are both out on the other hand it does look like a fairly skip-able console imo.
Definitely call Nintendo first. If they're not able to do some repairs they can at least confirm whether your NNID can be transferred over to a new console.
