Actually, this direct is justified since the 3DS version is coming first. The 3DS version will not take nearly as long to complete as the Wii U version

I loved the direct I am disappointed by Ridley being de confirmed and getting another pokemon rep that isn't mewtwo but I think I can live without them

I thought we all knew this right away when this year started and 3DS already had a couple of first party games with release dates and zero Wii U games besides the eshop ones.

Pretty good direct, first time I got to see Sakurai! I'm just worried about the 3DS version spoiling the whole roster of the Wii U edition...

Um, Wii U has several first party titles that are confirmed this year. But we digress...

tbh, I have no idea why people would play a fighting game on 3DS unless it was specifically made for 3DS and only 3DS. I mean this is a little but still...

Ironically, I'll probably get this version way after the Wii U version, and what sold me on it was City Trial 2.0. KIRBY AIR RIDE SOLD ME ON YOUR 3DS SMASH NINTENDO, MAKE AIR RIDE 2! > : (

^ Bayonetta 2 confirmed for a Summer release in Japan, no word for a release on the west. We'll probably get it on September or something. Hyrule Warriors has not been brought up since it's reveal last year, only Tecmo has said something about trying to find a balance between both franchises. "X" doesn't have a release window, I wouldn't call out a 2015 release for the west. SMT X FE, not even confirmed for a 2014 release. NES Remix 2 is eshop exclusive, what else are we getting this year?

Nah, if they wanted to do the upmost to pick up Wii U sales, they would release them side by side ..... now the Wii U version will loose some of that initial "oomph" from a fresh release and it will be having to compete during the busy holiday season with the big PS4 and XB1 first and third party titles of 2014.

It's like if they released Titanfall on the 360 five months before the Xbox One version.

It's portable smash. Of course everyone will buy it. The awesome city trail like mode is a deal sealer for me.

I came to see new characters.I stayed for the new characters.I thought it was a great idea to make Zero Suit Samus and Sheik seperate characters.I would always accidentally switch to Shiek when I wasn't paying attention while playing as Shiek.Hope that the winter release for the Wii U can amp up the sales.Overall,a great Nintendo Direct.

I was happy overall. The only disappointments for me were the Wii U version launching later (not too big of a deal, but I was more excited for the console version than the handheld) and the lack of a Captain Falcon confirmation. At this point, unless I am forgetting someone, he is the only character from the original Smash that hasn't been confirmed for the new one and part of me is started to doubt that he will be confirmed at all.

Yeah, I like that Sheik, Charizard, & ZSS are now their own characters, and the new Pokémon looks interesting (Ninja FTW!!).

With that said, I hope there are still a few character reveals left (even if they're just returning characters).

Kirby's Air Ride mode (never going to be called Smash Run here) had me sold if I wasn't already sold. That and custom move sets were both huge announcements for me. Way more exciting than a new character announcement would have been. I missed one tidbit though, can you use custom move sets in friend battles online? I am pretty sure they said you can't use it in random matches.

The two online modes is a great idea. I would love more stage variety than just FD for Glory, but the many different skins for FD is a very nice addition. I am sure I will be playing both modes, but mostly For Glory. I also like that there is rankings for Solo. That will make it more interesting.

I'm glad the transforming characters have been separated. That was always a silly mechanic. I could never think of a use for changing character mid-match. I would prefer having a larger move set.

I'm glad gliding is gone, too, though not really a big deal either way.

So many interesting stages and other tidbits. I am actually glad the release dates are separated. Now I can focus on one for awhile until the other comes out.

I don't see what the big deal is with the Wii U getting a later release. If they were to launch at the same time I thought that the Wii U version basically made the 3DS version redundant. The Wii U version will be the more impressive version so naturally it requires more work. Frankly I'm surprised that we're getting both versions this year AND that the 3DS version is coming out as early as it is.

Also does Mario Kart 7 being out already mean you're not interested in Mario Kart 8? Did you skip 3D World because you already had 3D Land? Seriously guys, we all know that portable gaming and non-portable gaming are worlds apart. I don't think this will make much of an impact at all. Frankly I wasn't interested in the 3DS version at all before I heard that it's coming out so much earlier.

and another thing...

You're kidding right? It's maybe not quite up there with Mario or Zelda and the king of selling Nintendo consoles is Kart but Smash is still massive. Smash is the core Nintendo title, the one title above all others that gets the gamer crowd buying Nintendo consoles. Now I agree that I don't think the timing matters much and I've stated my reasons above. Not because it's "not a system seller".

Lastly Greninja. Probably my favourite new character so far. I suck at Smash but I do like the faster characters that are good with air combat (probably why I suck!). So Greninja seems like the sort of character I'll love to play as.

In terms of original characters, Ness & Jigglypuff haven't been confirmed either.

I wouldn't worry too much about them though (they're all pretty much expected, so they'll probably revealed in future PotD, like Dedede was).

I wasn't a fan of gliding either. Metaknight is so nerfed
