While ChoCho can be hyperbolic at times I see where he is coming from. According to mark rein the Wii U can barley run unreal 4 without stripping it down and major optimization. Cliffy B said that he's seen more of the final fantasy demo and the fox engine behind closed doors and they are pushing a few things better than unreal 4.
Hopefully these engines are extremely scalable as its pretty obvious that at the bigger studios the on house engines are going to power every game going forward.
All I heard was that the Wii U can run Unreal 4, but won't, according to Rein. He did say the engine is extremely scalable, but there was no definite statement whether this related to the Wii U, or not. And especially seeing as PC is the only confirmed platform to be running Unreal 4 and with Rein stating he's not in the least hasty to bring it into home consoles, I really don't see this as something we can use to doubt.
He said he'd rather wait for a "massive leap" in consoles that porting it on to something "today", and with that, I can only imagine that Unreal 4 was built with PC specs in mind alone, thus the extreme scalability of the engine. For all we know, the nextBox and the PS4 might barely be able to run this as well.
I see where we're all coming from with all this Wii U power skepticism, but with no solid evidence, we can hardly assume anything. And it'd be naive for us to judge the console's power by the Wii's past mistakes. Let's all just drink some Kool-Aid or something.
