Topic: Thinking about getting a Wii u

So i purchased a 3DS XL for me and my gf a few days ago. It has took me away from GTA and its what i look forward to after a long day at work. I just love it and cant believe it took me this long to get one. I own a PS3 always been a playstation fan use to own a 360 but never a wii. After buying this 3DS i decided to look at the wii u.. and it looks quite interesting i have a few questions.

1. Do you own a wii u & a 3DS?

2. What do you think of the Wii U? Games are you currently playing?

3. Will you be getting a PS4 or Xbox One or just sticking to the Wii U?

4. Will my 3DS account (friendcode) be the same one i use on my Wii U? (for example psvita uses same PSN as in PS3)

Reason i ask because i don't have the luxury of buying all consoles and your answers will help me come to a conclusion. After owning this DS i have been hooked on games that don't have the greatest graphics but engaging gameplay. I use to own a PSViTA and sold it so yea hope you guys don't mind laying out your opinion, Thanks

Yeah I own a WiiU & 3DS but I play the WiiU more because it has better games that I like... 3DS might be selling good but even the WiiU still has better 3rd party support

I just have a wii u. I think its really great with a nice selection of games amd even greater selection coming within the next 4 months. I won't be getting a ps4 or xb1 because I have the wii u and a nice pc.

no 3ds here, however I waited a good 7 months after launch before deciding on the Wii U, and I do not regret it.

I own a PS3 as well which we play quite a bit. I will eventually get a PS4 but I will wait as long as I can.

There is a ton of value with the WiiU now, you have a couple of bundles to choose from.

I have played/owned Blacklist, Lego Undercover, NFS Most Wanted, Scribblenauts, MH3U, ZombieU, NSMBU and NSLU, WWHD, W101, Rayman, Marvel Lego, and I feel like I am forgetting some things. I just like the system, the off tv play and a lot of the co-op options. It isn't best system, they need to do some things better like some of the online stuff. The Virtual Console is lacking, but the eshop is solid. I have seen the gamepad used in a variety of ways and I am impressed so far, it ranges from gimmicky and simple, to awesome and almost game changing, see NFS for simple and ZombieU and Deus Ex for well done.

To address your last question, no, accounts are not unified, however Nintendo has mentioned that they are working towards a unified account system. Not holding my breath.

The money you put in to the WiiU will be well served, just looking at the near future to the Super Mario World 3d, the tons of indie games coming, and going in to next year with Donkey Kong, X, Bayonetta etc. You will have enough to play between it and the 3ds. Eventually you can go PS4 when it has a price drop and not feel too left out, well, maybe, just depends on your gaming tastes.

1. I own a Wii U and a 3DS.
2. I'm underwhelmed with my Wii U. The games Nintendo are putting out on it aren't as impressive as what I usually see from them. Rayman Legends rocks, but that's pretty much it. Pikmin 3 was solid, but not what I'd call amazing. I've got some 3rd party games too, and they're all competant, and off-TV play is great, but there doesn't seem to be much on the horizon for 3rd parties. This is looking like it will be a Nintendo and indie machine.
3. I plan on getting an XBOX One. I want to play the games 3rd parties will put out (Destiny, Need for Speed, and many more, especially in a few years, when 360 and PS3 will no longer get support) and Xbox Fitness is what's making me choose it over the PS4..
4. There is no unified account system for Nintendo platforms.

I started with a Wii U in April and enjoyed it so much decided to get a 3ds in late August. Love both of them. I don't have plans to get either of the new systems in the next year or two but might after they come down in price.

Don't let this notion of there not being any games scare you away. I have 19 retail and about five eShop games. There's at least a dozen titles in the pipeline coming out in the next six to eight months. I'd recommend getting a bundle and NintendoLand is pretty cool for just $30. Right now playing Rayman, but love Sonic and All Stars Transformed, Need for Speed, Madden, Tekkin, both versions of Zen Pinball. You can get a lot of these games for less than $30 on Amazon, so now is a good time to buy

The games is actually a huge reason why i want the Wii U ! reason i am not sure yet is because i know i wont have time for a wii u and a ps4 haha wii u looks awesome ! so does ps4 its such a tough choice. Although Wii U has games that remind me of when i was bout 8-10 (22 now) it feels like id enjoy it more. But PS4 will have games like Destiny.

Yeah, I'm 44. I just don't want a system that doesn't play MarioKart, Mario Bros, Donkey Kong..... I might get one of the other systems later b/c I love madden and by the time 2013 gets old for me (probably in three years), the price might be right. For me, Mario Kart 8 is the must have- it just looks incredible. With that said, I've got enough games to last me a long time- honestly don't need to be spending much more, but I'm sure I will. IF you feel strongly about the Nintendo titles coming up- weigh that against what's in the pipeline for Ps4.

@rockodoodle Yea makes a lot of sense. Honestly with the 3DS XL and 5 games i picked it up for it alone will last me till the end of Q1 next year

I only own a 3DS and Wii U.. I just purchased the Wii U when the zelda bundle was released, but let me tell you this, I'm very happy with it. Zelda: Wind Waker was amazing (I had never played it the first time around) and Rayman: Legends was really fun too, the online challenges being great. The best game I've played though so far, and my GOTY, would be Wonderful 101. I love this game, I understand why some people may be bothered by the mechanics.. but if you give it a chance and learn it, it's really fun and feels rewarding, unlike some beat-em-ups.. if that's what you call this kind of game. I own Pikmin 3 as well, but I haven't even opened it yet because I've been hooked on W101. It's just one of those games you have to 100%.. or 101% in this case.

I'd like to talk you into getting a Wii U. I just think there's something really cool about nintendo stuff. You will get a lot of that with your 3ds. however, there is something to be said of playing on the big screen and even the game pad. I love watching a baseball game/sporting event and playing SMBU on the gamepad. i can see your conflict if you like a lot of the popular titles that aren't coming. Most of that stuff isn't my style- and I can get at least the basic shooters. I got a free copy of COD Black Ops with Target's buy 2 get one free. I have Mass Effect 3 and AC3. PS4 will come down in price by next year and it will have its own release issues, I'm sure.

I have a Wii U and a 3DS. I myself have been underwhelmed, to say the least. But I haven't lost hope since 3D World is right around the corner. Next year would probably be the perfect time to get one. Smash Bros., Bayonetta, Mario Kart, X, and Donkey Kong will all be out. I enjoy both Sony and Nintendo equally, so I plan on grabbing a PS4 in the springtime as well. XB1 not so much, but I won't rule it out.

I haven't really had a chance to give a lot of time to the Wii U. The Wonderful 101 confused me with it's demo and Pikmin has never interested me. But I think it'll be a neat little console once the games are out and the sales pick up a bit.

1) Yes!
2) It's my favorite system of all time, the gamepad truly adds a new dimension. I haven't been this in love with a system since the Dreamcast. I'm currently playing Batman Armored, Monster Hunter Ultimate, Most wanted, Wind waker, and D&D Chronicles. I've only just recently joined the ranks, about three weeks ago, now. And there are way too many more titles that I want.

3) Stickin' like glue with the Wii U.

4) No, but friend codes aren't needed now. It's also easier to add friends.

Something else that I don't see people mention enough, it's just so much fun. You're not just buying a console to play games on with the Wii U, you're joining a huge community with Miiverse, and it's integration into games. You're getting a whole new and incredible way to watch movies, TV shows, and sporting events, with Nintendo TVii. I've been using it to watch football games that I can't watch on TV. Video chat. An awesome web browser, that allows you to watch a youtube video on your TV, while continuing to web browse on the gamepad. Drawing on the gamepad. Free online gaming... I'm probably forgetting something, but you should get the picture. And guess what? None of these features will cost you a dime.

Miiverse is cool on DS i can imagine on the Console

- Yes, I own both system.

2. What do you think of the Wii U? Games are you currently playing?
- It's a good system, I love Miiverse and the GamePad is neat. Off-Screen play is a really nice feature. I'm currently playing Wind Waker HD, great remake and really really beautiful in HD (though I have noticed some fps drops here and there which is somewhat disappointing).

3. Will you be getting a PS4 or Xbox One or just sticking to the Wii U?
- I'll probably pick up a Ps4 later down the road.

4. Will my 3DS account (friendcode) be the same one i use on my Wii U? (for example psvita uses same PSN as in PS3)
- The WiiU doesn't use Friend Code's, it user-name based. Nintendo does not use any linked account system, so everything you buy online on your WiiU will be locked to the system and your system account. E.g, you can own The Legend of Zelda for your 3DS but you won't be able to play it on your WiiU even though you already own the title. You'll have to re-buy it on the WiiU. (which sucks)

I've owned a Wii U since January and then I would of said no don't get one because back then I only had new super mario bros u and monster hunter but now I would say get one I traded in monster hunter because it got boring and I just bought it to hold the time but I assure you it is worth getting now with Wind Waker HD now out (I got it yesterday and it is the best I hardly have played LOZ in the past but love the series now) and I also have Pikmin 3 from september both great games and with the new mario coming out next month you just have to get it 3 great games yes it is still small but think next year will be even bigger and I'm happy with my purchase just from owning wind waker and pikmin 3 and seeing the trailer for Super Mario 3D World just go for it I own a 3ds as well and it's also an amazing system!

1. Do you own a wii u & a 3DS?

Yes I own both.

2. What do you think of the Wii U? Games are you currently playing?

To be honest a think the Wii U is the greatest home console I've owned so far. I've never bought a wii and I mostly played games on my xbox 360, The Wii U is really fun and innovative but it takes some getting use too for most people you might have to try out all its features a few times. Games I'm currently playing on my Wii U I don't have a specific one at the moment cause I have a big backlog that I don't want to pile up.

3. Will you be getting a PS4 or Xbox One or just sticking to the Wii U?

For now my Wii U delivers all the home console gaming needs I want but I'm definetly picking up and Xbox One in the future.

4. Will my 3DS account (friendcode) be the same one i use on my Wii U? (for example psvita uses same PSN as in PS3)

This was answered a few times so I won't bother saying the same thing.
