Right now there is an amazing PS4 game coming out: THE ORDER
People says the...game...has an amazing and innovative gameplay...lol
lol
as a matter of fact I was never interested in that game, but this is one of the prime examples of how sony and ms and lots of third parties operate, HYPE. create lots of hype, try to impress people with graphics/cinematic experiences and provide bits and pieces of information at a steady pace to create even more hype... and hope people will go for it... Havent seen nintendo doing it, at least not on such a scale...
I really like The Order! another argument that convinces me that did the right thing by switching completely to nintendo

They release a game that works great as a proof-of-concept as a 30fps HD graphics presentation for the platform (I haven't played The Order myself, so I'm only going on what other's have written about it)? That's not much different to Nintendo Land, which could be seen as only a proof-of-concept for Gamepad use. I would never use Nintendo Land as an example of fantastic production values.

Difference is that NintendoLand came "free" with the system and was a launch title. The Order is $60 and released over a year after the system it is on.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I've never understood people who buy a console near launch and then sell it within the year because it doesn't have an amazing library.
The games always eventually come. I can't think of any modern systems that haven't had some great games on them.
Of course, this is the reason I rarely buy consoles at launch. I like waiting until they go down in price a bit and actually have something to play on them.

Exactly!
I think they are either already planning a sequel or, which is more likely IMHO, tons of DLC that will continue the story or simply grant access to the stuff they had cut out - IMHO if they bring out a couple of DLCs this year the latter was the case - cash in at all costs!!!

The order doesn't even work as a proof of concept seeing as its the first big game in the second year of the consoles life. This is after Infamous and knack got critized for a smilar lack of content.

I bought mine at launch and was completely satisfied with it. I bought the Deluxe set with CoD: Black Ops II, ZombiU, NSMB.U, Mighty Switch Force, and Nano Assault Neo. That's quite a few games right away, then I bought Sonic Racing, Tekken, Injustice, Pikmin 3, Monster Hunter 3, and few other games throughout the year. Last time I checked, that's more games than what the average is for software attach ratio on ANY of the consoles. Even if some of the games I have on Wii U are on Xbox 360 or PS3, it still makes more sense to have them on the newer consoles, and the same logic applies to Xbox One and PS4, IF you have them.
I already knew games like Mario Kart and Smash Bros. were going to happen, and that's besides that I was playing all the new games. It was actually easier to keep up with releases at first, because there were less. That goes away as the generation moves on, for obvious reasons.

I own both the PS4 and Wii U and to me they are completely different machines. Wii u for Nintendo goodness and PS4 for those dudebro multiplats and most importantly Gundam games.
You just gotta know what you want and for me, I need both

Don't buy any console at launch, ever. EVER. And people picking on the Order for not being the open world FPS that the OP mentioned is being a snarky, unoriginal, cad. Don't die a product of the zeitgeist either way.
Well... I know somebody did almost the same thing except more crazy with extra craziness on the side. One of my friend bought an PS3. Then sold it for paintball gun. Then sold that paintball gun for Xbox 360. Then sold that Xbox 360 for iPhone. Then sold that iPhone for Xbox 360.
I bought mine at launch and I bought a few games and enjoyed them and waited patiently for more whilst unlocking cars in Need for Speed and exploring most of Nintendo Land and Game and Wario. It's all about taste, but honestly I've never felt like I was spinning my wheels waiting for Nintendo to put something out. I still have a backlog and I'm happy to have no major releases of interest for awhile so I can play stuff I've just left lying around.
It's like buying ten albums in one go - if you only give one or two listens to a new record you're not really enjoying it, so you need to take a break from buying new stuff to do that. Just work on that attention span and you won't be unloading a console after a few months. Heck if there wasn't a game out for it you wanted to play when you first bought it then why buy it in the first place?
Every console will have its high-profile flops, so I'm not going to jump at Sony's jugular like most other people. I'm also a HUGE proponent of not judging a game unless I've played it (as some of you know), so I'm going to stick to my own philosophy and not say anything about The Order.
So aside from that, Nintendo has a track record for quality. You just can't argue against that. Most likely due to its august age, Nintendo has more "classic" titles under its belt than any other publisher/manufacturer, and lately Nintendo has a much-welcomed penchant for fairly priced DLC (when there even IS DLC ... most games are 100% when you buy them) in contrast to those other publishers we know quite well and don't need to name.
As someone else up there said about a PS4, I own an Xbox One ... and it's basically my Netflix and Halo machine. Wii U? I use that to play video games.
The only problem I have with the way Nintendo is doing DLC is namely the actual release dates. The purpose of first party game DLC is to keep you engaged in the game until the next big game comes out, Nintendo however has been releasing its DLC very close to the big games which kind of defeats the purpose. The perfect examples are last year for Hyrule Warriors and Mario Kart 8, the former had its biggest DLC pack (Master Quest) very close to the release of Bayonetta 2 which then meant that game was rather overlooked. Then both Hyrule Warriors and Mario Kart 8 had very close to Smash which was Nintendo's biggest 2014 release, so this time the DLC got rather overlooked.
This situation for Mario Kart 8 continues into this year with its 2nd DLC pack being very close to Splatoon's release date (unless Splatoon gets delayed) which is Nintendo's huge new IP. The Mario Kart 8 DLC situations could have been avoided by releasing the DLC lets say in early August and late January where game droughts were very common though I'm sure there's at least some reasoning behind the 2nd DLC release date like if a Wii U Animal Crossing is announced at E3.
This would be true...if so many people didn't download the DLC pack. I'm sure many opted for the "season pass" with the different color Yoshis and Shy Guys

I'm not talking specifically about sales but rather about people getting the "season pass", playing the DLC for about a week until Smash came out and then not going back. Things like the GameXplain and Nintendo Life tournaments showed significant decreases once Smash was released.

That was because Andre got too busy to keep doing Mario Kart. Even before Smash came out he missed a few weeks.
