So, I'd finished Super Mario 3D World, but not completed it. Probably never will...not that it's not a fun game, it is amazing. I'm just not good at replaying games over, and over. Well, anyway, I have been trying to finish Wonderful 101, and just isn't clicking with me, despite me being really interested in the game before release.
So, I went looking for some games, and boy are they hard to find. Bayonetta 2, Wind Waker, Tropical Freeze, and even Captain Toad. Good lawd, I waited too long, I guess. Luckily I found all of them, though. I started up Wind Waker, and it's only my second Zelda game, but I really love it. Much more than TP.
I was really glad to score Bayonetta 2. I'm not good at these games, but I really want to play it because it just oozes style. Tropical Freeze, well I love platformers, so duh. And Captain Toad, those levels in 3D World were way more fun that I thought they would be...
So glad I picked them up though. I've got some vacation time coming up, and I hope I can get through Wind Waker, and start up Bayonetta 1 & 2. I'm really not good at either games, but I love playing them. They make me a better gamer, and Wind Waker has been a blast, and I love the art style.
I think it is mostly things released when he Wii U was really in dire straights. It looks liked NSMBU, Pikmin 3, and Wind Waker have limited supply at major retailers. Although only Pikmin seems to have the price gouging associated with out of print status.
I'm waiting for a copy of Captain Toad since January 29th... I buy videogames in an independent shop owned by a friend of mine and he says it's the first time he's having problem finding a copy of a new game. I'd go digital only if the eShop was at least 25% cheaper than retail; no way I'm gonna pay the same price.
That's the problem with the Wii U scarcity. If you put off buying a game you have to accept that when you do finally go for it you'll probably have to pay more. Which sucks cos it goes against normal game-buying instincts nowadays whereby most games are under half price by the time they're about a year old or so.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
I only tend to shop in store, and rarely ever online (and the thought of getting a retail game in digital form is simply heresy to me, the irritation when I found out my copy of Sunset Overdrive that came with my Xbox One bundle was a digital version was tremendous), so finding older games also proves quite challenging. Even if they've been out for less than a year, given how little space my nearest Game store provides for Nintendo products, and even worse now given they allocated very little new space for the Amiibo's, it proves very difficult.
As for not having much time to play the games, I agree, that does suck. I always think to myself that I have a pretty decently sized collection of games, but then end up seeing others online and have to wonder, "where do people find the time to play all these games?"
It's going to be even more challenging for myself this year. As I've started up a YouTube channel, I've decided to do the standard 'Top X Games of such and such year'. I tried doing one for 2014, but I struggled with it quite a bit, as most of the games I ended up playing that year was previous games from 2013. So this year I'm striving to try and play at least over 12 games released per this year, whilst still trying to find the time to get back to Child of Light, Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 1 and 2, Wonderful 101, Fantasy Life, and perhaps even Trine 2 if I can somehow find time wherein both my brothers are available again.
So yeah, good luck with finding all of the games you're wanting to find, I know it can be troublesome at times. Furthermore, good luck with finding the time to play them once you obtain them.
Cave Story 3D is the most expensive game I've seen for the 3DS. With the slipcover, it's going for almost $100. Used.
Wow. See I can understand why my copy of Super Mario World in good condition with box and manual is probably worth a decent amount. I get why my even better condition copies of GB/GBC Pokemon games are worth as much as 3DS games are new. I even kinda get why I could probably get almost enough from my Club Nintendo Year of Luigi Diorama to get a New 3DS XL. There are a limited number of those things, they came in flimsy boxes and they are generally significant items that you can't get anymore. Even with Super Mario World where it is on the VC and in multiple versions, the SNES version is the "authentic" version of it. So fair enough I guess.
..... what seems stupid to me is that my copy of Cave Story 3D is apparently worth more than most of those things. Sure it's "3D" and it's not available in that form on the eShop. But there's another version of it that is on the eShop (and WiiWare, and Steam) that's quite literally the same game. Arguably better because frankly the 3D models in that game weren't that great and kinda detracted from the original design. So IMO that doesn't make any sense at all.
oh, and when I want a game and I can't find it....
So, my friend who owns a videogames shop received today some New 3DS, but not my copy of Captain Toad. Good job, Nintendo: this is the best way to kill those little independent shops were customers learn to love their hobby. F*** Amazon...
Makes for a collector's paradise though. I'm starting to regret getting a few games on download.
Why ? It makes for a scalpers paradise. Collectors just have to spend more (Either by getting everything day 1 or paying for a game they don't have only available from a scalper).
