Topic: the Wii U's image at large, starting to become respected by the more core gaming audience?

I've had a wii u for a year now. I'm not a fanboy by any means but I do find Wii U games the most fun and relaxing, like Lego City, Legend of Zelda and Mario 3D World. I also have a 3DS and vita but the 3DS gets the most play time. I don't think the doom and gloom reports were fair but with each generation console war someone has to be the last. It was PS 3 last gen.

A few corporate superpowers did a top job brainwashing a whole wave of kids into buying their ''PC-in-a-box'' entertainment systems/video game consoles. But I think people are kind of waking up and realising that Nintendo are the only ones that have always (almost) been there and still powering on doing exactly what they do best. The Gamecube and Wii generation spawned a lot of douchebags that would rag on the systems without playing them, you all remember what happened, "kiddy graphics" and other poor put-downs that didn't really mean much seemed to rule a lot of peoples thoughts. But we all kept playing real games while they paid $100 every year for the same war games. Now they realise what suckers they've been, probably, and want to actually have fun playing good games.

For what it's worth, the Wii U was never a "laughing stock". Don't give those douchebag war game lovers any credibility.

It's the same with every product, I don't see what your point is

No, I don't think so. In Japan, Pokémon ORAS sold 1.5m copies in 3 days. If it were sold out, no one would say anything. What about GTA, Mario and FIFA? the same thing with ORAS.

God first.

But it was a laughing stock both commercially and critically. I mean the system was out for two years and has been passed up by the PS4/XONE whchi are both around the 10 million consoles sold mark.

The XB1 only shipped 10M. It's not even close to that many sold. Last quarter they were squarely around 7M, so sales didn't just suddenly increase 50%.

Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F

Wat. XB1 only sold that much if you count the 3 million or so consoles that Microsoft just shipped to stores to prep for Black Friday. Their sold through is around 7-8 million. And the PS4 has nearly outsold both the XB1 and the Wii U put together. Understandable, since nobody outside of USA/UK cares about Xbox and the Wii U has had a whole mess of trouble. With all the goodwill that the PS brand built towards the end of the PS3 life cycle, it's not surprising that they're taking back the market. Don't forget that the PS1 and PS2 both dominated.

I was going from what Phil Spencer and Xbox has said regarding the numbers after the price cuts, though I didn't factor in shiped vs sold. As for the PS4 honestly I think its doing well based on the fact that the end of the PS3 life span was really great and the other two players screwed up. Its werid becuase the reasons why people praised the PS3 seem to be gone with the PS4 due to money concerns, and at the end of the day sony seems to not be recovering.

Starting to become respected? I would say so, but that isn't saying a whole lot. My friends ragged on me for getting a Wii U a few months ago, and since then they have come over to play games like Bayonetta 2, Smash, and MK8... that has promptly changed their minds. The games on the Wii U are not going to wow anybody graphically (though many are quite good), but they are simply a lot of fun. A couple of my friends are now looking at getting a Wii U as a second 'next gen' system. Which is honestly where the Wii U fits in amongst the Xbox One and PS4. It is a great 2nd system to have around, and have guaranteed fun games to play. Have one of the other systems for the multiplats and more realistic looking games.

On the shipped vs sold numbers for PS4/Xbox One... if you look deep enough, both are really reporting shipped. Once Sony/Microsoft ship their systems to retailers they are 'sold' for accounting purposes. It doesn't matter if retailers keep them on the shelves for 5 years (though that won't happen), they are still sold according Sony/Microsoft. People are getting way too tied up into who is winning the sales race there, both are selling really well.

And that was the moment I stopped playing those games. Getting CoD, then having to buy the maps packs — one every ~3 months — or you can't play online anymore, got really old REALLY fast.

Aside from the fact that shooter-gamers are douchers, and I can't stand them, the games themselves weren't any good ... they were the same thing every year.
