Are they too much for you to care about?

HD- I've found no significant difference between SD and HD.
Tablet- an iPad ripoff? Really?
GameCube- one word: ebay.
No GC controller support- sucks considering the downloadable GC games.

Just because it's a tablet doesn't mean they ripped off apple. Some fan boys(not you @SoZettaFox) will do/say anything no matter how stupid it is. And you can't expect controller support from two generations ago.

Rip-off? Are you for real? If so then everything is a rip-off these days, and PLEASE, Apple did definitely not invent the tablet. The Wii U is obviously inspired by the DS. Your TV and controller basically becomes a giant DS. Using the word "rip-off" is so outdated these days anyway. It's impossible to release something that isn't similar to something else. And the tablet is hardly a gimmick, neither is HD. I don't really think you know what a gimmick is.

@LonelyGreyWolf exactly, everything thing that's a gimmick is a rip-off anyway.
I present, the TRUE ORIGINAL gimmick... on a fan-translated reproduction cartridge.

Tablet- an iPad ripoff? Really? - The WiiU pad looks nothing like an Ipad. It has buttons, it's not a multitouch display, it streams from a console and it's not portable.
GameCube- one word: ebay. - I don't even get this... :/
No GC controller support- sucks considering the downloadable GC games.- Downloadable GC games aren't even confirmed.

Looking forward to: No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Again

Come on Fox, what are you talking about ? No GC controller support isn't a gimmick, it's the most revolutionary idea in gaming ever! Just a shame that it will be underused and never brought to its full potential before it's discontinued.

This is interesting. Nintendo didn't rip off Apple because the Wii U tablet is apparently entirely different to the iPad.
Apple didn't invent the tablet. (The iPad is actually filled with patented technology, and even if the iPad wasn't an entirely original product, Apple gets credit for making the things popular).

Meanwhile. Sony like, totally ripped off the Wiimote. It doesn't matter that the Move is entirely different to the Wiimote, they totally did.
Nintendo invented touch screen gaming (it actually didn't, touch screens had been around for years before the DS, but Nintendo popularised it, so somehow Nintendo is innovative).

I'm seeing a double standard here. The Wii U Tablet is obviously an attempt to play into the hype wave behind the iPad. Nintendo has worked hard to make it a "gaming tablet," but if the iPad and other tablets had have bombed Nintendo would never have done it.

To answer the original poster's question, I hope the Wii U's haptics rumour turns out to be true, because that would get me interested in the console. Right now I'm struggling to see how the Wii U will do anything that my iPad + Airplay doesn't already do.

Nintendo's DS didn't "invent touch screen gaming" it created dual screen gaming, something that hasn't been done and it did make sense to make the 2nd screen a touch screen. Now if it was a stand alone touch screen then that's different so give credit where credit is due.

Sony did attempt to capitalize on Nintendo's success but didn't succeed partially because the Move seemed to be clearly drawn from the Wii (even though they had plans do something like it years before, their timing was just bad). The Wii U isn't an attempt to play on the iPad's popularity, it's an attempt to bring the DS experience into a full blown home console experience and so much more and Nintendo now has the means to make it happen at an affordable price. And what can the Wii U do that an iPad can't? Play console games easily and maybe even play PC type games easily also.

HD — Meh
Tablet — Ok?? if you say so that its an iPad ripoff I have yet to see an iPad be used as a video game controller.
Gamecube — What does that have to do with the Wii U
No GC controller support — If it bugs you that much either get a Gamecube from somewhere and play your Gamecube games that way or keep you Wii.

Once again, yoiur fanboyism gets you into ignorance. Nintendo are the real innovators and they do not copy stuff from other companies.

Making promise is easy. The hard part is keeping it.

The Advent of Tablets and Smartphones make the Wii U tablet seem pretty pointless for somethings.

A big example was Ubisoft showed Ghost Recon Online last year and pumped up the tablet controller. They showed off using the tablet for map purposes and drone stuff during gameplay. They also showed when your non playing and just in the menus the tablet screen becomes a cool stat tracker that allows you to work on loadouts, look at maps, and see whos online.

One would think that would be a big advantage of the Wii U tablet screen. Only problem is that beyond the intricate drone like gameplay this is available on other games using ios/Android/WP7.

All fanboys of something will defend anything. Not just Ninty fanboys.

1. I don't really care either, but it's becoming a major component of any console these days.
2. Because Apple invented the touch screen and the tablet.
3. First of all, that isn't even confirmed. Second, the Virtual Console could be considered a gimmick by the same logic, but it was wildly successful. In fact, a lot of people devote their Wii to Virtual Console. Yet you could still use your logic there too; why not buy an NES, SNES, N64, etc. from the internet? The Virtual Console is almost always the cheaper option, and it will probably end up the same way if they have GC games on the the VC. Finally, why does easy accessibility of more games annoy you? That doesn't make any sense.
4. While it would be nice, the Wii U controller has all of the features of the GameCube controller, just in different spots. Even then, you just contradicted yourself; if you don't care about GameCube games being on there, why should you care about the gameplay possibly being altered by a different control scheme?
