For that matter, what does "notable" even mean? High selling games? High profile games? It seems like everyone's lists are just biased and their listing their favorite games.

What? Nope. Wii U is probably the best Nintendo console for me (Nah... I think it's GameCube, but Wii U is a close second). I'm still waiting for more Nintendo support at least, but the games on the Wii U are fantastic. Mario Kart 8, Pikmin 3, 3D World, Wonderful 101 are just a bit of awesome software on the system. Sub12 pretty much spelt out the pros and coins, but I'm going to remove one con and replace it with my con.
Can be a mess / space clogger with all of those controllers and wires, next time, just give me one controller option, not a confusing array
I think it's good for Wii U that Nintendo has a variety of controllers, especially for a game like Smash Bros. The Gamepad is probably Nintendo's priority, so I think a cluster of controllers is not much of a problem.
Lack of analogue triggers
The GamePad and Pro are solid and sturdy controllers, but there's one thing that could make it perfect. ANALOG TRIGGERS.

I'm happy as a Wii U owner. Very happy. Here's to 4-6 more years for Wii U!

God first.

I'm basically using the term for full retail games from well known franchises (or heavily advertised new IPs) that got good reviews and/or sold well.

The few exceptions:
-I excluded the Wii series and Nintendoland to avoid controversy.
-I was more conservative with the Wii because it's my favorite console and I wanted to reduce bias. Hence why I didn't mention Battalion Wars 2 or Endless Ocean.

The Wii U is the punching bag of the gaming industry. Its the kid that gets picked on for being different. It has flaws but the double standard it gets while the PS4 (especially) and the Xbox One doesn't get attacked is bizarre. I like all 3 consoles, by the way.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

I'm the opposite. I think the PS4 and XB1 are overpriced gameless crap that only cater to the western adult mass market. Seriously, if I don't like FPSs, what good game is there for me to own a PS4 and XB1 for aside from Infamous: SS and Sunset Overdrive? A bunch of remasters and ports from last gen that look marginally better? No thanks.

The Wii U bothers me because, unlike its predecessors, it hasn't impressed me much either with its current library. So I literally am more interested in buying a second/third 7th gen system than an 8th gen system.

Honestly, if Nintendo just made this a thing:

Untitled

And it was compatible in both Wii and Wii U mode, I would just have my Gamepad, a single Wii Remote + Nunchuck for the few Wii games I own that require it, and buy 4 of these. Get rid of everything else.

The PS4 is getting Guilty Gear this Holiday (which admittedly is also on PS3 and is in a niche genre). The Wii U honestly is looking to be my main console with PS4 actually the secondary. The PS4 will almost guaranteed all the fighting games I'll care about and maybe a small number of bonus niche JP titles. Just enough for me to grudgingly save up for it this holiday. Now Xbox One, have to admit at a lost of why anyone would want one. But back to the topic at hand I think Wii U, if it keeps up the pace it's at now, might be one of the best consoles ever. It just won't be a big seller, which is fine by me as long as it keeps on getting these awesome games.

It's pretty simple really. They're were just Nintendo published games that I thought "gamers" would have brought the systems for. I don't think people were rushing out to get the Wii U for DK and while games like Wii Sports sold bucketloads I'm not sure if it's in the same category. Or games like Wave Race and Diddy Kong Racing, they were great games but they were secondary to things like Mario Kart and StarFox. I think that I was fair.

The fact that in order to try and disprove the list iKhan has binned Captain Toad and Wind Waker while adding Mario Party, Wario Ware and Big Brain Academy says something. As I said, if you want to exclude the two weakest games from the Wii U on that list? Captain Toad and Pikmin 3? You better trim down the Gamecube list also.

Yeah, I think I'm on the same page as you. Guilty Gear Xrd is also on PS3, but I still have plenty of fun to extract from BlazBlue and P4A games, so I can put that off for now. Only reason to get a PS4 I see on the horizon is Disgaea 5, but more will come I guess. By 2016, there might be a couple more reasons for me to pick up a PS4, and hopefully by then we'll see a price drop, a slim model, and I'll be ready for Xrd.

Sunset Overdrive

I feel like I'm weird for not seeing in this game what everyone else apparently is. It looks like the same hyperviolent post-apocalyptic shooter that has been appearing on Xbox for the last 10 years, but with stylized art and some cheeky dialogue.

By that logic then, I think these games would be "notable"

N64: Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
GC: Super Mario Sunshine, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Mario Kart Double Dash, Metroid Prime, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Wii: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Kart Wii
Wii U: Super Mario 3D World, Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros., maybe Captain Toad but it's too early to say

So I would definitely say that the Wii U is a bit lacking compared to past consoles.

That's basically the same as the list I posted earlier just marginally more strict and with a different conclusion. I don't see why people would jump up and down over me including Goldeneye, Star Fox, Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin, Animal Crossing, New SMB and Wind Waker HD. TBH I'm not convinced that simply having Metroid Prime and a new Zelda beats not having Prime, getting a Zelda remake, having fantastic versions of Kart/Smash and getting some interesting new IP. At the very least the Wii U it's on-par.

Are you serious? None of the other consoles except the N64 have that few games, and yes, the lack of a unique Zelda and Metroid does make a difference. The GC and Wii had more games and more unique games than what the Wii U has to offer so far.

Except that Pikmin 3 is a better game than Mario Kart Wii was and Wind Waker HD is just as good a game as Twilight Princess is. As I said, you wouldn't exclude the OoT remake on 3DS so why should Wind Waker HD not count? It's very easy to look through rose coloured glasses and talk about how great these past systems were compared to what we have now. The thing is though back when those systems were new people were saying the same thing.

Absolutely not, Mario Kart Wii is easily better than most of the Wii U library. (My opinion of course )

Those aren't even the games I'm looking at on the Wii, I'm thinking more along the lines of Galaxy and Prime 3, and the Wii U doesn't have any games out right now that top them. 3D World isn't anywhere near as fresh and innovative as Galaxy, and there's no Metroid on the Wii U.

I wouldn't count OoT 3D actually.

No one was saying that older consoles weren't creative or didn't use their features very well.

I never said it did have anything as great as Galaxy or the original Metroid Prime. I was simply making the point that saying it has less great games is nonsense. That while it is true that the top of the top tier games might not be revolutionary the ones just under are numerous and better than previous equivalents.

Bolt_Strike wrote:

I wouldn't count OoT 3D actually.

We're going to have to agree to disagree about that. However I distinctly remember nobody being interested in the 3DS until the OoT port. I also remember it being the game most people were interested in when I went to a pre-3DS launch event thing. Wind Waker HD did the same, it's a top tier gamer's game and it has moved a million units on a platform where that's not an easy target. Also that it was with Wind Waker HD where I first felt like my Wii U purchase was justified

skywake wrote:

They were when they weren't old consoles. People were just as quick to dismiss Twilight Princess as they are when they dismiss 3D World now. Metroid Prime 3 came out and it seemed like nobody really cared at all about it. So when I say it's easy to talk about how much better older consoles are I say it in that context.

That's pretty much what it comes down to. There was alot of time between releases, so I basically bought everything I could.

I was bored as hell, so I looked at Tekken. I wanted a racing game, so I bought Sonic. CoD with pointer controls, and hardly anyone cares. Splintercell is a good price on the eShop, and I like stealth games. I never played Deus Ex on Xbox 360 or PS3, so I bought the definitive version.

The conclusion that I've come to, is that alot of people don't have these games, then continue to complain about lack of core games. For the record, not having any money to buy said games fails to count as lack of software.

As for Xbox One and PS4, they basically bought their way in. I'm just looking forward to seeing how Windows runs on Xbox One, because that opens alot of possibilities for support.

I got mine about 5 months after launch. It's now my second favorite Nintendo console (right behind the gamecube) and I'm sure the games coming out soon will make it the BEST.

Check out my YouTube channel if you love gaming, and Nintendo (especially Metroid) I think you'll enjoy my videos. :)
