In all honestly I think the Xbox One may actually do worse than the Wii U. The PS4 and Wii U are both cheaper, the PS4 seems to have a better line up, and the PS4 will simply blow it out of the water. The advantage the Wii U has is Nintendo's games, so it can be a secondary system but the Xbox One cannot.

I wouldn't be surprised if after all the Xbox fans bought the One that sales will stagnate.

I clearly have too much faith in humanity and America, as I agree.

One problem is that the One seems to be mainly aimed at the American market, while offering relatively much less for Europe and Japan.

Wii U and PS4 are at least trying to market to all regions

There were three developers who worked somewhat close to Nintendo.

EA

For EA, at least, it's the system's lack of a rich multiplayer environment that's one of the big concerns - especially for sports titles. (That's part of the reason Madden won't appear on the system this year.)

"The lack of online engagement that we see on Wii U [is troubling]," says Moore. "It's so integral to what we do. They're so small it's hardly worth running the servers. It seems like a box that's out of sync with the future of EA - which is one that gives a real social feel to our games. The Wii U feels like an offline experience right now."

Ubisoft

Is the Wii U about to lose one of its biggest supporters?

Ubisoft has confirmed during its recent investor meeting that it will be scaling back support for Nintendo's Wii U console.

The French publisher — which has Assassin's Creed IV, Watch_Dogs and Rayman Legends all scheduled to hit the system before the end of 2013 — also stated that it expects a price reduction on the console in order to boost sales.

Ubisoft came under fire following its decision to delay former Wii U exclusive Rayman Legends and make it a multiformat title, but has been one of the console's staunchest third-party supporters, bringing Assassin's Creed III, Just Dance 4 and ZombiU to the system.

At E3, it revealed open-world racer The Crew, which notably isn't coming to Wii U.

THQ well we all know what happened.

I can't blame Microsoft for that. They tried to get ALL the JRPGs for the early days of the 360 and it didn't lead to anything other than incredibly short-term success for the console over there.

To be honest I'm kinda surprised Microsoft is even bothering to release XBO in Japan, but third time's the charm I guess.

Sony missed my point, I was asking if Nintendo had been telling developers their exact plans and ideas for the console etc. Like, I genuinely think someone should find out, because if they didn't work with devs as much as possible early on, especially ones that have been working with Nintendo, that would be an actual slant against the company beyond what one guy said happened with one company that Nintendo doesn't care about.

Not communicating enough with developers early on is a major mess up on Nintendo's part if true. They're often pretty tightlipped on what the systems are capable of (we haven't officially recieved all details on the WiiU's specs) and I think that needs to change if they want to attract more developers.

Yeah, that is true. I hope they didn't make that mistake, especially considering how open they've been with indies lately. But this likely wouldn't have been after 3DS early disasterous failures and Wii's fall from relevance that made Nintendo realize every single stupid mistake they made in the decade before that point, so sadly it IS a very, very real possibility.

They could have realized just recently that being more open is beneficial. I don't remember there being much talk with indies when WiiU was first revealed.

Edit: I see you've made my point already.

Nintendo still shouldn't have to confront every company all specially.

Step 1. Nintendo releases a new console. You(3rd party) take notice

Step 2. You think about whether you should make a game for it

Step 3. Make the game, or don't

3rd party companies are just cry babies that Nintendo didn't knock on their front door and discuss matters more personally at their kitchen table with dinner and wine.

That's a pretty poor excuse. You might as well not go to work if your boss doesn't give a crap about you, which is probably the case.

This is their job. Do your job or GTFO.

I'm under the impression that they didn't tell third parties that much when developing the console. Ea probably new because the consulted a bit on the Nintendo Network.

The earliest I could find was the darksiders team saying they found out about the Wii U in April and were told to make an onstage demo that Nintendo never used.

I'm assuming the Darksiders team got paid, then?

This whole thing shouldn't really be a problem. Nobody really confronted anyone about much of anything in 6th gen, so what happened in the past 10 years that makes people complain at such a time as this?

People just don't want to work. That's the impression I get. They want big results from half an effort, and they'll cry if things don't go their way.

EA were never happy when Nintendo did not use their "Origin store" as a basis for Nintendo's digital downloads.

When was this confirmed? I keep hearing everyone bring it up but I never see any concrete facts just speculation. If you`ve got any sort of link that would be appreciated.

I absolutely agree here.
My impression on these third party game makers is exactly the same, and these game makers are showing no imagination what so ever.
They just keep releasing the same crap over and over again on these same stale consoles.

Companies like EA and TwoKSports passing on the Wii U is just complete laziness, and shows no balls at all.

It comes up mostly as an explanation for EA's radical change from "unpredecented partnership" to treating the WiiU like it doesn't exist.

Read: "I'm talking complete bullcrap that I know nothing about, but it sounds good and I kinda heard it from another guy, who may have also been talking bullcrap, so therefore it might somehow be right."

Yeah, see how helpful reading between the lines can be?
