Okay, guys. So, the Wii U is ready to turn itself around and make us proud. No longer will we be the laughing stock amongst our peers, it's time for us to turn the tables with a big "I TOLD you!" And sit back as the games flow in.

I figured I'd take this time to go back and look at these game changing Wii U titles' Wii equivalent and see what they sold. Obviously there are other factors and we can consider that the Wii had a bigger install base when they came out, etc., etc. But the fact is, these are the "heavy hitters" tasked with putting this system on track. Ill update with sales numbers as these titles come out:

i don't count Rayman, as it is multiplat, but for the record the Wii Origins sold 450k and Rayman Legends for Wii is said to be selling well, beating both it's ps3 and 360 counterparts.

1. Windwaker

This wasn't on Wii so I didn't look it up. I believe the GCN version hovers around 3 million.

2. Sonic Lost World

Wii Equivalent: Sonic Colors
Worldwide sales: 1.49 mil

3. Wii Party U

Wii Equivalent: Wii Party
Worldwide sales: 8.16 mil

4. Mario 3D World

Wii Equivalent: Galaxy 1 & 2
Worldwide sales: Galaxy 1- 10.87 mil ........ Galaxy 2 - 7.06mil ........ Combined 17.93 mil

5. Donkey Kong Country Returns: Tropical Freeze

Wii Equivalent: Donkey Kong Country Returns
Worldwide sales: 6.01 mil

6. Wii Fit U

Wii Equivalent: Wii Fit & Wii Fit Plus
Worldwide sales: Wii Fit- 22.75 mil ..... Fit Plus 21.23 mil

All sales numbers are courtesy of vgchartz.com

While we don't know how many actual consoles these previous versions sold, we can assume it's a lot, as the software sales from just these titles along hover near the 75 mil mark. I have to admit, I had written off Wii Fit U because I thought Wii Fit was a one time hit, but seeing Wii Fit come back and almost match it's numbers a couple years later is encouraging.

I can confidently say the Wii U should be a powerhouse after this Holiday season. I can also safely say that if these titles don't turn it's fortunes around, the console (not Nintendo) is in serious trouble. Like, i'm talking, wipe this thing off the map and start fresh trouble.

We'll see soon!

While I also expect the Wii U to be in a much better place after this Christmas, I wouldn't make any expectations of various games sales based on previous entries in the series on Wii. For example:

New Super Mario Bros Wii - 27.08 million
New Super Mario Bros U - 2.04 million

Once the Wii U has more sells.. those numbers will go up.. on New Super Mario Bros. U... heck it might even wind up back on some charts this holiday season.. and may actually beat Super Mario 3D world.. with that being said on topic...

Out of all those games so far the most I have seen hype for is Zelda and Wii Fit.. (Ironically Wii Party U does not seem to be something people are looking forward too.. but I would not be surprised if it became a major system mover in it's own right.. since there is no Mario Party... another mistake I think Nintendo made.. ) I also think Donkey Kong is getting some hype and have read in various threads that that is the reason people are buying a Wii U.. so that will be a system mover too... plus people who like party games will come back to the Wii U after the price cut.. as well most likely.. I think they need to put out a Wii Party U Bundle actually.. it might be a smart move... of course even better.. since you already have a Game and Wario deal out.. would be to make a Mario Party..

I am a wild and free Ninetails not a trainer.. get over it...

I think you're being a bit too optimistic. Xbone and PS4 preorders are already sold out. The only way I see this happening is if Nintendo decides to completely take over all children's TV and advertise the living crap out of the Wii U. The games are there, all we need is the marketing.

If you really are this passionate I'd recommend writing to NoA and asking them to advertise the damn thing.

You mean like the PS3? To be fair, the PS4 is the "fresh start" for Sony, IMO.
The Wii U is a fresh start, the Wii just wasn't as much of a commercial failure to begin with like the PS3.

Sony is just doing horrible financially... Sorry, but Sony would end up going bankrupt before Microsoft or Nintendo if at all, guaranteed.
