Yes, I'm aware of them, but we're 2 1/2 years into the Switch now. My argument is about Wii U having 25GB right from the start for every game, for every developer, for every publisher, to no extra cost.

Which has been your only point this entire time, and need I remind you how many publishers took advantage of this after the launch year?

Compared to Wii U, Switch often proved that visual and audio quality were needlessly reduced just to fit a cheaper cartridge. Or, in other cases, you had to download huge chunks of the game. Almost every publisher tries to go as cheap as they can. 32GB cartridges like Witcher III are not a rule, but an exception.

Switch also has better specs than the Wii U, which can offset this.

I think another reason why Nintendo opted for proprietary discs for the Wii U (other than cutting on licensing costs), was to engineer a disc with a higher read speed so that games can be read directly from the disc, unlike the PS3/360, which I believe required installations for most games (correct me if I am wrong) while all games that I am aware of for Wii U were playable directly from the disc without any installation whatsoever (apart from the occasional patch).

Actually, this is a good point. Blu-ray's biggest weakness was being slow. But at the same time, Nintendo's games were also considerably smaller than the PS4 or Xbox. Xenoblade X was the only game to be about 22 GB.

These trolls!
Skyrim also has those language packs as separate free DLC free. Each language is an extra 3GB (full voiceover).
However, English voiceover, and all the story expansion DLC packs are included on the 16GB Skyrim cartridge, so I'm ok with that.
I fortunately have Assassin's Creed III, Assassin's Creed IV, and Rayman Legens on Wii U so I don't need them on Switch.
Apart from Mario + Rabbids I haven't bought an Ubisoft game for Switch. It is fun but kind of rough around the edges for a Mario game. And if this is Ubisoft's best effort, I can skip the rest.

Yeah, uh, not gonna defend Ubisoft here...

I was not looking at the final 13GB Wii U version which is the downgraded Switch port, I was looking at the 25GB BotW Wii U development version that was shown multiple times during development, before they decided to make it a Wii U / Switch multiplatform game. BotW couldn't live off of the strengths of the Wii U anymore, and was limited by the limits of the Switch.

Care to provide evidence for this claim? Seems to be purely a subjective one. I'm no expert on graphics, but Nintendo can pull off amazing games without the need for 25 GB sizes.

I'm glad Xenoblade X came out on Wii U before Switch was a thing.

If it's ported, we can revisit this.

Just for information purpose.

Wii u came out 2012
Switch came out 2017
It’s obvious it will have better spec but the Wii u games still look absolutely beautiful.

Some PS3 Games still look amazing to me and that thing is from 2006! Besides that alot of the switch games look like they would easily have been possible on wii u. Honestly graphics wise i haven't seen alot of switch games that look beyond what was possible on wii u. Take smash for example. I really don't see much difference.

Games in general are reaching that point. Breath of the Wild is leaps ahead of Twilight Princess, but it's also on the Wii U. I doubt the Switch will get much better.

I distinctly remember Mario Kart 8 blowing me away despite having a 360 and plenty of good games for it for ages and the PS4/Xbox One already being out. Because they just made a more appealing looking game than most big budget games and 60FPS only added to that. Not to mention some excellent use of animation and specific details for the characters.

@Zeldafan79 Except there's a bit of a skewed comparison going on there, because there's literally a MASSIVE factor that's the cause of that, which apparently no one (or hardly anyone) is taking into account:

Simply put: file sizes. Wii U discs are capable of holding 25 GB or considerably more, depending on if the data is compressed or not. Most Switch games come on 8 or 16 GB cartridges. Some with additional downloads, but still, most of them won't even come near those file sizes, compressed or not. So, it's not so much that the hardware isn't more powerful, because it is, but the storage medium is definitely holding it back, so there's either a pretty hefty download with your game purchase, or textures and other assets need to be considerably downscaled, to make them fit on the much smaller capacity medium.

And just in case: that's not just on Nintendo, by the way. If a medium-sized developer like CD Projekt Red can put their entire game on one cartridge, and don't have to think twice about selecting a 32GB cartridge for that, then so can all the other, often far larger developers and publishers, but most of these stingy b****rds simply just go for the cheapest option, and burden the consumers with having to download an extra 10 or 20 GB and having to buy yet another Micro SD card to even be able to play that game...
